‘Thought I’d Never See My Kids Again’: Black Bouncer Beaten by Off-Duty Cops After Stopping Domestic Assault. Deputies Allegedly Kicked, Punched, and Told Him ‘I’m a Sheriff’ During Brutal Attack

News - Fri, 05/30/2025 - 13:00

A Black man working as a bouncer at a bar in Camarillo, California, who stepped in when a male patron was allegedly pushing and choking his wife, got more than he bargained for when the man turned out to be an off-duty sheriff’s deputy with another deputy friend in tow.

After a violent altercation, he ended up with a concussion, neck injuries and a $1 million tort claim against Ventura County and the two officers, who were arrested for multiple felonies.

According to his claim filed with Ventura County on April 11, Jaiden Perkins, 25, was at the tail end of his shift at the El Rey Cantina around midnight when he observed some friction between a white woman in her late 20s and her husband. The woman was “hysterically crying” at a table in the back, where she was sitting with three men and another woman.

Perkins observed the woman and her female friend exit the bar and sit on a bench near the entrance, and he followed them out and asked if they were OK, and they indicated they were. It was closing time, and as he began moving chairs from outside to inside the bar, he saw the man approach the woman, who slapped him and said, “Don’t you ever talk to me like that again.”

The man, now identified as Ventura County Deputy Sheriff Dylan Davis, shoved the woman into the bench and began choking her, Perkins claims.

“Hey, man, you can’t be touching females like that,” he says he told Davis, who stopped choking his wife and told him, “I’ll f—king kill you,” and then hit Perkins with his left fist, striking his right cheekbone. Perkins struck back, knocking Davis to the ground.

Then he says Deputy Sheriff Anthony Malagon tackled him, and both Davis and Malagon proceeded to kick, punch and stomp him, until a bar patron pulled them off. Perkins grabbed another person’s phone and called 911.

“You’re not killing anyone, man. I just called the cops,” Perkins told his attackers, according to his interview with the Ventura County Star.

“You mean my buddies? I’m a sheriff,” Davis allegedly retorted during the beat-down.

Ventura County deputies responded to the incident and arrested both officers that night, booking Davis, 33, with suspicion of multiple felonies, including battery causing serious injury, inflicting injury on a spouse, using force likely to cause serious injury, and making criminal threats, as well as misdemeanor battery, The Star reported.

Malagon, 27, was arrested on suspicion of battery causing serious injury and using force likely to cause serious injury, both felonies.

Both men were booked into jail and later posted bail.

Capt. Robert Yoos, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, told The Star in April that the case will be sent to the DA’s office for prosecution.

A statement from Sheriff Jim Fryhoff released on April 16 said, in part, “I want to assure the public and our community that the Sheriff’s Office takes this matter very seriously. “We hold our deputies to the highest standards of conduct; any violation of those standards will be addressed appropriately, without hesitation … as that is what both our community and our agency expect and deserve.”

Davis and Malagon were put on administrative leave by the sheriff’s office, which is conducting parallel investigations into their conduct through its Major Crimes and Internal Affairs bureaus. Both also had their peace officer’s licenses suspended by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

Perkins was evaluated by paramedics and then taken by ambulance to Pleasant Valley Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with a locked jaw, loss of consciousness, concussion, head and neck injuries, his claim says.

He continues to suffer from daily head and neck pain, and due to his injuries and trauma, has had to leave his bouncer job, as well as two other physically demanding part-time jobs at a grocery store and as an Amazon delivery driver.

He’s still seeing a doctor as well as a therapist, and says he continues to have headaches and back pain. The father of two told KTLA he thought the two men were going to kill him that night.

“In the moment, I thought, ‘I’m never going to see my children again,’” Perkins said.

His claim seeks $1.06 million in damages — $10,000 for medical bills, $50,000 for loss of earnings, $500,000 in general damages and $500,000 in punitive damages. It accuses the county, Davis and Malagon of assault and battery, negligence and violations of the Bane Act, a state civil rights law protecting against coercion and intimidation.

Although the incident on its face “appears to be a private fight involving off-duty deputies,” the claim says, because the officers “asserted their official authority” during the encounter, that conduct invokes state and federal civil rights claims.

“They were engaged in behavior that would easily be described as hotheaded,” Maximiliano Galindo, an attorney for Perkins, told KTLA.

“I don’t think they deserve any inkling of mercy,” Perkins told The Star. “They didn’t give me any. It’s sad that it’s supposed to be ‘protect and serve,’ and I was the one protecting his wife that night.”

California law requires anyone seeking damages from a state or local government agency to file an administrative claim first, The Star observed. A lawsuit can only be filed if the agency denies the claim.

Alex Galindo, another lawyer for Perkins, said Ventura County appears interested in settling the claim and is scheduled to meet with him in a mediation session in June.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for an update on the case from Atlanta Black Star.

‘Nobody Helped Us’: Black St. Louis Neighborhood Left In Apocalyptic Ruin As Governor Pleads to Trump for Aid More Than 2 Weeks After Devastating Tornandoes

News - Fri, 05/30/2025 - 12:00

With FEMA reportedly understaffed and underfunded, St. Louis residents who endured devastating tornadoes nearly two weeks ago say they remain desperate for help in surroundings reminiscent of a war zone.

“Practically every place my family has been in, visited, touched, has been destroyed,” said Lisa Covington, who has lived in north St. Louis for decades.

“They have to get to the store. We have a lot of people that we’ve helped out,” she continued. “Some people who didn’t have the money or didn’t have anything at the time, we helped them out, like the elderly.”

The city remains in a daze from the aftereffects of the EF-3 tornado, which tore through the St. Louis area on May 16. Winds as high as 150 mph devastated whole blocks of homes and businesses in predominantly marginalized Black communities. The violent storm left five people dead and another 38 injured.

Covington’s home was leveled by the tornado and her business across the street was also damaged. The community’s very survival is at stake, she said.

“It won’t be a neighborhood, Covington warned. “These people and we have lived in this area for eternity, and to get it just taken away and nobody helped us, helped these kids, and helped these people, no, that’s not fair.”

The St. Louis area was already reeling from storms that hit the eastern and southern parts of Missouri back in March. President Donald Trump didn’t approve a major disaster declaration — clearing the way for FEMA assistance — until last Friday.

The future of FEMA, the federal agency commissioned to provide relief to communities hit by natural disasters, remains in flux. The president has suggested disaster relief should be handled by states, not the federal government.

FEMA faced a multibillion-dollar deficit heading into this year, leading the agency to announce it would halt some rebuilding projects to better equip itself financially to handle future emergencies.

Now that it’s hit close to home, Republicans are rethinking their support for the FEMA cuts.

Earlier this week, Missouri Sen Josh Hawley, who last year voted against a bill providing more disaster relief funds for the agency, said FEMA’s help was urgently needed. After touring areas hit hardest by the storm, Hawley declared they would “need lots of assistance to rebuild.”

Missouri Republican Gov. Mike Kehoe reached out to the president on Sunday, asking him to approve a major disaster declaration to provide federal assistance to St. Louis, St. Louis County and six southeast Missouri counties.

The bill presently sits on the president’s desk, awaiting his signature.

Kehoe requested that FEMA provide temporary housing, home repairs, and other necessities for those impacted by the storms.

“It is abundantly clear that Missouri families need rapid federal assistance to rebuild homes and lives, and to continue moving forward,” Kehoe said in a statement. “We are requesting federal assistance to quickly get desperately needed funds flowing to individuals and families as we prepare to document the need for federal assistance to remove debris and repair damaged infrastructure in the days ahead.”

St. Louis residents say can’t afford to wait much longer. The city’s Fox affiliate painted a glum picture in a story that aired Wednesday.

“The devastation is indescribable as an apocalyptic scene stretches across the Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood. It’s eerily quiet, with the occasional sound of a homeowner working alone to clean up, using a chainsaw to get through the brush block his front door.”

Private volunteers have provided dumpsters along the street and the heavy equipment needed for such a massive clean-up.

“It was like the tornado was in my backyard and it was beating on the back of my house,” resident Kim Brooks told the station.

“I’m not really a political person, but I haven’t seen ‘em,” said Brooks, asked if the neighborhood has received any assistance from the government.

‘The World Is a Better Place to Him Without Black People’: Donald Trump Biographer Reveals President’s True Feelings About Race

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 20:00

Black people, Donald Trump believes, are pitted against whites in a zero-sum game, according to the president’s biographer in an interview with “The Daily Beast” podcast.

“Clearly, he has some issue with Black people,” said Michael Wolff, who has written two books on Trump, “All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America” and “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.” “The world is a better place to him without Black people, or without having to be aware of Black people.”

The validity of Wolff’s insights into the president’s psyche is up for debate. For the latter book, published in 2018, the controversial author said he spent three hours interviewing him. Trump claimed to have given the author “zero access” to the White House.

“I never spoke to him for the book,” Trump said. “Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist.”

Trump’s views on race have always been complicated. While few may believe his 2020 claim that he is “the least racist person there is anywhere in the world,” Trump received more Black votes in 2024 than any Republican in 48 years.

“Trump certainly regards Black people as profoundly different from white people,” Wolff told the Daily Beast. “I mean the word racist now becomes in the Trump world a kind of high praise, because it’s meant to suggest the liberal overreach and the liberals call anybody racist.”

Trump established his credibility with far-right conservatives when he pushed the scurrilous rumor that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. The real estate developer claimed he sent investigators to Hawaii to find Obama’s birth certificate, which Obama eventually released.

In 2016, when he first ran for president, Trump routinely retweeted white supremacists and neo-Nazis who had endorsed him. Following the Unite the Right rally Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017 in which a counter-protester was killed by a white supremacist who drove his car into a crowd, the president claimed there were “some very fine people” on “both sides,” drawing praise for “defending the truth” from white nationalist Richard Spencer.

He reportedly claimed immigrants who come to the U.S. from Haiti “all have AIDS” and warned that Nigerian refugees would never “go back to their huts” once they saw America. Trump expanded on those remarks by asking, at a bipartisan conference on immigration, “Why are we having all these people from sh-thole countries come here?” He suggested that the United States should take more people from predominantly white countries like Norway.

Echoing his claims about Obama, Trump suggested that Kamala Harris, who’s Black and South Asian, “doesn’t meet the requirements” to be Joe Biden’s running mate.

Race has played a significant role in Trump’s second-term agenda. He has gutted DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) policies at public institutions and universities. With a majority of his supporters believing racism against white people is a bigger problem than racism against Black people, Trump has ordered the Department of Justice to focus its attention on anti-white bias.

The president has also pushed false claims of genocide against white farmers in South Africa. White Afrikaaners are the only refugees who have been granted asylum in the U.S. during Trump’s second term.

Allegations of Trump’s racism extend well before his foray into politics. In 1973, the Trump Management Corporation was sued by the Department of Justice for violating the Fair Housing Act after claims that it had refused to rent to Black tenants. Trump claimed the federal government was trying to force him to rent to welfare recipients.

And he continues to claim the Central Park Five, a group of mostly Black teenagers, raped a white jogger in 1989 even though they were all fully exonerated in 2002.

‘His Mouth Moving But I Heard It In Monique’s Voice’: Mo’Nique’s Son Issues ‘Scripted’ Apology for Painting His Mother as ‘Difficult’ One Year After Their Public Fallout

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 19:37

Comedian Mo’Nique’s estranged son has delivered what many are calling a carefully “scripted” public apology, marking a dramatic turn in their family feud that captivated social media and divided fans a year ago.

Shalon Watkins, 30, issued the mea culpa through a TikTok video, taking accountability for airing their family drama online — a move that quickly went viral, though likely not for the reasons he intended.

The apology comes after a few bitter public exchanges between the Oscar-winning actress and her eldest child following Mo’Nique’s February appearance on “Club Shay Shay.” At the time, she told host Shannon Sharpe that she and her son were very much “separated,” stating she wasn’t the best mother while raising him.

“It may heal it in time, and it may not, and that’s something we as parents have to say…I’ve done what I could do. I’ve taken accountability for it. Now it’s up to you,” Mo’Nique explained.

After seeing her remarks, Watkins took to social media and accused his mother of abandoning him during difficult periods in his life and prioritizing her younger children with her current husband, Sydney Hicks, over him.

The family drama escalated when Mo’Nique and Hicks responded by revealing Watkins’ mental health struggles, creating a messy spectacle that played out across social media platforms and podcast interviews.

Now, Watkins is sharing with the public that he and his mother have made amends.

“I’m gonna start this off by showing my gratitude towards my family. The amount of patience and grace that they have all shown me, especially during times where I did not deserve it, is appreciated more than I can ever express in words,” Watkins began in his lengthy video on TikTok.

He continued, “Making those videos a year ago was a betrayal against our family, and I have to take full accountability for it. Why I made the videos and how I was feeling at the time when I made them is irrelevant. I made them, and I shouldn’t have. Period.”

The carefully worded apology continued with Watkins acknowledging the pain his public statements caused his family, particularly his mother and stepfather. He described himself as “the one in the family who simply just can’t get right.”

“I should have just kept my mouth shut and called my mother,” Watkins said. “Having that family intervention was hard and it felt like I spiritually got jumped but at the end of the a– whupping, my family did pick me up and give me a hug.”

Mo’Nique’s oldest son said he understood why his younger brothers wanted to “punch” him in the face for his actions. He admitted that his family revealing his mental health was “justified,” even though he didn’t “like it” at the time.

However, social media users were quick to notice something peculiar about the apology’s tone and structure.

When Its_onsite posted Watkins TikTok video, followers immediately began speculating about its authenticity.

Two asked, “Is he reading a script?” and “I don’t mean nooooo offense … but did Monique write this?”

Another observer noted, “I see his mouth moving but I heard it in Monique’s voice,” while a fourth commented, “And… Cut! You did beautifully. Happy you all reconciled.”

Not everyone was cynical about the reconciliation.

Some users praised the public nature of the apology, with one writing, “He was reading a script when he came to the internet to tear down his mama and step daddy. So let him read that same script to apologize. Most y’all ain’t complain about no scripts than so don’t complain now.”

Another advised him, “Yes keep family issues indoors not on the internet.”

The reconciliation apparently happened during an in-person family meeting orchestrated by Watkins’ younger brothers, who insisted on face-to-face conversation rather than allowing their older sibling to avoid accountability.

Watkins described the experience as humbling, acknowledging that his brothers had valid reasons to be angry with him but still showed love and support after hearing about the pain he had caused their mother.

His mother has gone public with their reconciliation, posting photos of her and her son on her Instagram, “GRATEFUL!!!! I LOVE US 4REAL!!!”

In his apology, Watkins specifically addressed those who used his previous statements to paint Mo’Nique as difficult or controlling, distancing himself from such narratives.

“For those who use my words to further a narrative that my mother is difficult to work with, that her husband is controlling, that she is anything like the character she portrayed in ‘Precious.’ I also apologize to my mother for the things you [social media users] said about her.”

Over the years, Mo’Nique has accused several Hollywood figures — including Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry — of labeling her as difficult after she refused to do extra promotion for the 2009 movie “Precious,” arguing it was beyond her contractual obligations.

Watkins emphasized that his decision to go “no contact” with his family ultimately hurt him more than anyone else, affecting his ability to be the best partner and father to his two children. He said in the video that he owed his family a public apology precisely for making their private business public in the first place.

The original dispute began when Mo’Nique appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, where she claimed to be praying for reconciliation with her son.

Watkins had responded with his own videos, calling this statement a lie and detailing years of alleged neglect and abandonment.

Whether this public reconciliation represents genuine healing or simply another chapter in an ongoing family saga remains to be seen. For now, at least, the Watkins-Hicks family appears to be moving toward unity, even as social media continues to debate the authenticity of their peace process.

In addition to Shalon, Mo’Nique shares twin boys, David and Jonathan, with her husband Sidney Hicks, and has an older son, Mark Jackson Jr., from a previous relationship.

‘You Can’t Make It Up’: Florida Man Bitten by Alligator, Growls at Good Samaritan, Then Tries to Steal Cops’ Guns Before Being Fatally Shot

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 17:29

Florida deputies say a bizarre incident ended in the fatal shooting of a man believed to be high on meth when he allegedly charged at cops with garden shears right after swimming through alligator-infested waters where he was bitten.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told news outlets that two deputies shot and killed 42-year-old Timothy Schulz on Memorial Day in Lakeland, Florida, just south of Orlando.

The sheriff’s office said the incident started early that morning when they were called to a Racetrack gas station. A station employee said that Schulz entered the convenience store and was shaking, acting bizarrely, and asking to call his son, Judd recalled in a news conference.

Deputies didn’t find him at the station or anywhere nearby. But less than two hours later, several witnesses called authorities after seeing Schulz swimming in a lake full of alligators. One 911 caller said Schulz appeared to be “drunk or high or something,” Judd said.

Judd added that when one person tried to offer him a life preserver, Schulz “growled” at them, and while he was in the lake, an alligator bit him on the right arm.

“The fact that he was bitten by an alligator, significantly, and still continued his rampage is shocking,” Judd said. “This is just crazy stuff, OK? You know that it’s got to be true, you can’t make it up.”

Once Schulz emerged from the lake, authorities say he picked up a pair of garden shears and a brick he found outside and tried to break into a car with the brick.

When deputies finally arrived at the scene, they reported that Schulz charged at them with the garden shears. One deputy deployed a Taser twice, but the shocks had no effect on Schulz.

Then, Schulz reportedly tried to climb into their police vehicle while it was still running and grab their weapons, prompting both deputies to shoot Schulz multiple times. He died at the scene.

“He tried to assault my deputies with shears. Then he jumped into their vehicle, which is an armed burglary with the shears, trying to get the rifle and/or the shotgun out. At that moment in time, all the warnings had to stop, and the action had to begin. And that’s when they shot him enough to stop the threat,” Judd said.

The sheriff’s office posted multiple photos showing the bullets the deputies fired into their police car.

Judd believes Schulz might have been high on meth that day. He said the 42-year-old carried a “long” criminal history of drug-related arrests. Schulz was just released from jail May 20 after being charged with meth possession. A police affidavit said authorities found a glass pipe in a backpack Schulz was carrying that tested positive for the drug.

The incident is still under investigation, and both deputies have been placed on administrative leave.

‘Needs a Mom Like Jayden Daniels’: Travis Hunter’s Mom Turns Off Comments As Fans Question Why She Let Him Seemingly Marry Without a Prenup to a ‘Gold Digger’

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 17:08

Future NFL player Travis Hunter, 22, tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Leanna De La Fuentee (aka Leanna Lenee), on May 24. The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner’s mother has been celebrating the nuptials on social media.

Hunter’s mom, Ferrante Edmonds, shared several posts featuring her son’s wedding on her Instagram page. She even uploaded a behind-the-scenes video of herself getting prepared for the event.

Travis Hunter’s family had a rather odd reaction to his lavish wedding gift for Leanna Lenee. (Photo: leannalenee/Instagram)

“Had an amazing time at my son’s wedding! Congratulations to you both! I LOVE YOU!” Edmonds wrote as her Instagram caption.

She uploaded two additional recap videos from Hunter and Lenee’s wedding ceremony. Unlike her pre-wedding Instagram posts, the comment section has been turned off, likely to block the noise and criticism of her son’s decisions.

Hunter has faced widespread scrutiny about his relationship with Lenee, 23, for months. In particular, Lenee was slammed online for overshadowing the success of his last college game as well as not standing up in support of Travis winning the Heisman Trophy last December.

Despite establishing their romantic connection as teenagers, Lenee faced accusations of being a “gold digger” who was looking to take financial advantage of the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Hunter defended the Kennesaw State graduate from internet trolls.

“Go find a life. Stop worrying about what I’ve got going on. I know what I got. My girl’s been with me for five years,” Hunter voiced to critics in April. “Y’all are just now starting to talk about me and just now starting to be with me.”

Some observers questioned Edmonds’ support for her son’s decision to exchange vows with Lenee. There have even been debates about the way she publicly backs Hunter as compared to Regina Jackson, the mother of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

During an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast” this month, Jackson spoke about being ridiculed for feeling the need to protect Daniels, 24, from women hoping to prey on her son, who signed a $37.75 million NFL contract.

What’s wrong with what she’s saying versus how y’all acted over Travis Hunter?

Also I think Jayden Daniels has enough autonomy to say how involved he wants his mom to be in his life. https://t.co/GNJCF2P7oi

“What’s wrong with what she’s saying versus how y’all acted over Travis Hunter? Also, I think Jayden Daniels has enough autonomy to say how involved he wants his mom to be in his life,” an X user tweeted in response to the critical reactions to Jackson shielding Daniels.

Similarly, someone on X expressed, “Travis Hunter needs a mom like Jayden Daniels, lol, because his business decisions are shaky [as f–k], lol.” A third sarcastically asked, “Travis Hunter putting everything in his mom’s name, over or under?”

“I sure hope Travis Hunter has already bought his mom a beautiful house that cost much more than this ugly truck, cuz I would disown him if he hadn’t,” one person declared, referring to the two-way football star surprising his new spouse with a six-figure vehicle on their wedding day.

In March 2024, Hunter bought his mother a five-bedroom home in Savannah, Georgia, and documented the moment he presented Edmonds with the keys to the residence in a vlog shared on his personal YouTube page.

Lenee apparently played a big role in helping Travis buy his mother’s new house, which is close to that of Leanna’s parents in Savannah. The Jacksonville Jaguars rookie acknowledged his then-fiancée “did everything” in preparations for the home reveal.

In addition to setting up his solo YouTube channel in May 2015, Hunter also started a couple’s YouTube channel with his now-wife in May 2022. They have not published new content on the platform since Leanna’s “Wedding Dress Shopping” vlog from August 2024.

There appears to be a close familial bond between Lenee, Hunter, and Edmonds. However, one message presented on Edmonds’ Instagram page just four days before her daughter-in-law’s lavish wedding at The Barn at Faith Farms in Tennessee led to speculation about her true feelings.

“You have to deal with your trauma, or it will consume you. It will make you bitter! It will make you angry! It will cloud your judgment! Forgive and let go and let God heal you and set you free,” Edmonds expressed on May 20.

‘Attempts to Deflect Her Dishonesty’: Trump’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Mocked Online for ‘Demanding Answers’ About Who the ‘Heck Ran the Country’ While Biden Was President

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 13:28

On Thursday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared on “The Sean Hannity Show” on May 27 to announce that her boss is insisting on a thorough review into the alleged cover-up of his predecessor’s apparent cognitive decline.

From the White House that promised to end the “weaponization of the Department of Justice,” comes word that Donald Trump isn’t finished going after the man who beat him in the 2020 election.

“He’s demanding answers,” Leavitt enthused. “And one of the things he is going to continue to push for answers on is who the heck was running the country over the past four years.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt holds her first news conference in the Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House on January 28, 2025 in Washington, DC. At 27 years old, Leavitt is the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

The remainder of Leavitt’s remarks feature all the hallmarks of Trump communications: Unfiltered hyperbole, disparaging the mainstream media and a deep state conspiracy.

“This is truly the greatest political scandal our country has ever seen,” Leavitt said. “We had unelected radical left White House staffers, who nobody knew their names, running the most powerful country in history of the world. The Democratic Party was in a complete alliance to cover it up, and the mainstream media was right along with them.”

“They were asking Joe Biden what his favorite ice cream was rather than asking him whether or not he was suited to run the country,” Leavitt continued.

Leavitt’s comments come in the wake of the release of “Original Sin,” written by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and journalist Alex Thompson, which claims that senior members of Biden’s administration, aware of the former president’s cognitive struggles brought on by age, hid the information from voters.

Leavitt: "He's demanding answers. And one of the things he is going to continue to push for answers on is who the heck was running the country over the past 4 years. This is truly the greatest political scandal our country has ever seen." pic.twitter.com/3YaHHt0jnu

— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) May 28, 2025

The authors also accused the media of failing to hold the Biden administration to account.

The alleged cover-up was poorly executed, however as Biden’s performance in a debate against Trump exposed his obvious decline. He was forced to step aside, hastily replaced atop the ticket by his vice president, Kamala Harris.

The scandal, “may be even worse than Watergate,” Tapper claimed in an interview with Piers Morgan last week. Questions about Biden’s health grew even more pointed when it was revealed last week that the Delaware Democrat is battling an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer.

Howard Forman, a professor of radiology and biomedical imaging at the Yale School of Medicine, said it was “inconceivable” that Biden’s cancer had not been discovered while he was still president.

Leavitt did not say how the president planned to get to the bottom of the Biden scandal, though he has shown no hesitation in using the Department of Justice to advance his political agenda.

On social media, Trump detractors noted how the president continues to live in the past, determined to convince the world he was cheated out of a second term in 2020.

“Trump is possibly the first president who rarely talks about the future and almost always dwells on the past,” wrote one critic on X. “He’s like a scorned ex.”

Meanwhile, Leavitt was mocked by one former Bill Clinton staffer as “the most hilarious member of this criminal administration because of her ineptitude. She attempts to deflect her dishonesty and corruption by falsely accusing @JoeBiden of some scandal when the American people watch the Trump corruption daily in real time.”

One Trump critic dismissed the Biden scandal as “another distraction” and tried out a new nickname for the president’s 28-year-old mouthpiece: “BS Barbie.”

“Leavitt’s claim sounds like a prime example of rewriting recent history to fuel political drama,” added another X user. “Four years of chaos, questionable decisions, and scandals didn’t seem to raise the same outrage then, now suddenly it’s ‘the greatest political scandal’ because it fits the narrative. Classic selective outrage to distract from the present mess.”

Just last week, Leavitt was ridiculed for her claim that “hatred has no place in the United States of America under President Donald Trump” following the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy workers last week in Washington, D.C.

But she has her defenders, impressed by her combative approach and unshakable faith in Trump.

“Everything Leavitt say is 100% true thanks for sharing!” wrote one fan.

And many MAGA users remain hopeful that Biden will spend his final days behind bars.

Maryland Woman Hit Child With Fist, ‘Slammed’ His Head Against Plane Window After He Called Her ‘Fat’ and ‘Miss Piggy’ After Trip to Disney World, Witnesses Say

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 12:42

A Maryland woman is facing felony child abuse charges for attacking a child who called her “fat” and referred to her as the Muppets character “Miss Piggy” on a plane.

Kristy Crampton was charged on Memorial Day following a vacation she took with her family to Disney World in Orlando, according to an arrest report cited by WFTV.

That day, she boarded a flight at Orlando-Sanford International Airport bound for Hagerstown, Maryland. But just before takeoff, a child seated next to her told her she couldn’t fit in her airplane seat, the police report states.

Witnesses told police that Crampton “began hitting the child with her fist,” and struck him on the head with a water bottle. Other passengers also reported that she “slammed” the child’s head into the airplane window.

The pilot called police to report a “disturbance,” but Crampton and her party had already deboarded the plane after the attack.

When officers caught up with Crampton, she claimed the child was “very rude” and “disrespectful” to her.

She told police that she took his phone after he called her “fat,” but he only continued to misbehave. After he allegedly pushed her arm off the armrest, she said that’s when she began “smacking” him.

Witnesses reported seeing the victim cover his head with his arms to try to block Crampton’s blows.

In their report, police say Crampton overstepped “typical disciplinary actions.”

One witness told police, “The woman was not correcting the child. She was abusing him,” adding that Crampton was “whipping the s— out of the kid.”

The cabin crew reportedly did not notice when the attack happened.

Police haven’t specified the relationship between the child and Crampton, but say both were part of the same group that went to Disney. The child’s age was also not released.

She was released from jail on May 27 on a $10,000 bond. A judge ordered her to have no contact with the child.

‘I Didn’t Even Get to Say Bye to My Baby’: Texas Mother Handcuffed and Detained After 2-Year-Old Daughter Killed In Hit-and-Run By Stranger

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 12:00

Allana Gray was out running errands on May 21 when she got the phone call every parent dreads. Her 2-year-old daughter, Egypt, had been seriously injured.

Gray rushed home to find a chaotic scene. People surrounded the home, drawn by the commotion. At one point, one of Gray’s family members confronted the crowd with a gun, which led someone to call the cops. They arrived at the Houston apartment complex around 6 p.m., where they were made aware of the hit-and-run accident involving Egypt.

Egypt was reportedly killed in a hit-and-run accident. (Photo: GoFundMe)

Gray’s 4-year-old son is the only known witness. The mother says the girl’s father had been watching her play with her brother on the stairs outside their apartment. The dad went inside to grab his cellphone, and when he came back outside, he was met by his boy.

“My son was coming up, he was running up the stairs, and (the father) said ‘Where is your sister?’ and from the top of the stairs you can see right at the parking lot, and he says when he looked up he saw her,” Gray told Houston’s ABC affiliate.

“When I seen my baby, I almost passed out,” she continued.

Gray said she didn’t even think about waiting for an ambulance to transport Egypt to the hospital. She sped to the hospital with Egypt’s father in the back seat, giving his daughter CPR.

But it wasn’t enough. Egypt was pronounced dead at the hospital. But Gray’s nightmare wasn’t over. She was handcuffed and detained by police, who were suspicious of the mother’s involvement after spotting blood on her vehicle.

“They detained me, they put me in handcuffs, they put me in the back of a police car and I didn’t even get to say goodbye to my baby, I didn’t even get to kiss her,” said Gray, who was questioned in the back seat of a police car until 5 a.m. the next morning.

She remembers her daughter as “smart, she was funny, she had a big attitude, she had a big personality, she was so loving and caring, she was a protector.”

Gray said she’s frustrated that police don’t have any leads yet. They have yet to interview her son, she said.

She insists she never left her two children unsupervised or near any danger. Last week’s tragedy played out in a matter of seconds, she said.

“If you hit her, if you seen anything, or seen who hit her, please, just say something,” Gray pleaded.

Justin Jones, a neighbor of the Grays, said cars routinely speed through their apartment complex.

“It breaks my heart because I have an almost two-year-old,” Jones said to ABC13

Houston police have not updated the investigation since last week. The family has launched an online fundraiser to help with the funeral arrangements.

‘What An Absolute Unhinged Thing to Say on the Air’: Trump’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Blindsided By Fox News Joke About Her 60-Year-Old Husband

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 11:30

Karoline Leavitt, 27, made history by becoming the youngest White House press secretary in January 2025, but her age continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The official spokesperson for President Donald Trump’s second administration is married to real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, a man who is more than 32 years Leavitt’s senior.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s 32-year age gap with her husband continues to be butt of jokes online and on Fox News. (Photo: @karolineleavitt/Instagram.)

In January 2025, Leavitt and Riccio tied the knot at New Hampshire’s Wentworth By The Sea Country Club. The wedding ceremony took place days before Trump was inaugurated for his second term.

Riccio is 60 years old. The three-decade age gap between the former Plymouth State University student and the mother of his infant son remains a topic of conversation.

Leavitt and Riccio are not the only high-profile couple who face constant questions about a significant age difference. Ex-NFL coach Bill Belichick’s relationship with a former college cheerleader remains a trending topic, too.

Belichick, 73, dated 61-year-old Bill Belichick Foundation executive director Linda Holliday for 16 years from 2007 to 2023, until he got romantically involved with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson in 2023.

Since stepping out together, Belichick and Hudson have become targets of digs at the hands of celebrities like retired Patriots player Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski and hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg.

Leavitt’s marriage to Riccio has been the regular butt of jokes, too. The May 22 episode of the Fox News show “Jesse Watters Primetime” featured comedian Matt Friend, 26, clowning Leavitt by offering her a specific warning on the conservative network.

“By the way, Karoline Leavitt, stay away from Bill Belichick! Stay away from Bill Belichick! She likes a big-ole’ man, Jesse. She really does,” Friend jokingly said in a video that has been shared on X.

A laughing Watters quickly tried to cut to a commercial break. The 16-second clip sparked reactions online as X users shared their thoughts on Friend comparing Leavitt and Riccio to Belichick and Hudson.

Friend: By the way, Karoline Leavitt, stay away from Bill Belichick.

Watters: We've gotta go pic.twitter.com/7pyegnzfxR

— Acyn (@Acyn) May 23, 2025

“Karoline is too old for Belichick,” read one response on the social networking app. A second person stated, “She already has her own ‘Belichick.’”

A third individual tweeted, “Good advice. Karoline, some things are better left untouched, especially Bill Belichick’s playbook.” A fourth noted, “What an absolute unhinged thing to say on the air.”

Friend uploaded the full “Jesse Watters Primetime” segment to his YouTube channel, where he did impressions of Trump, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and cable television host Bill Maher.

The social media personality’s takedowns targeted both sides of the aisle. He also made fun of Watters, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, former President Joe Biden, and the Democratic Party.

“Love how Jesse was so irritated by this and wanted to cut this short, and love how Matt gives it to these idiots right on their home turf,” read a comment under Friend’s YouTube video.

Another viewer wrote, “You can tell that Jesse is forcing himself to smile and laugh. He is incapable of sincerity on any level. You can tell he is pretty ticked off, though!”

“His jokes aren’t funny, but his impressions are hilarious,” read a balanced critique of Friend’s comedy, while a harsher critic declared, “Weak imitations on this video… He’s off his normal game.”

Friend began his career in show business as a production intern for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The graduate of New York University’s Gallatin School eventually performed at the 2024 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner during the Biden administration.

As for Leavitt, the unsuccessful 2022 Republican congressional candidate addressed marrying an older man while speaking with Fox News alumna Megan Kelly. The interview took place on the right-wing pundit’s self-titled digital show.

“I met my husband during my congressional campaign. A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” Leavitt told Kelly in February 2025.

She continued, “Of course. It’s a very atypical love story, but he’s incredible. He is my greatest supporter. He’s my best friend. He’s my rock.”

Leavitt and Riccio are parents to a son named Nicholas Robert Riccio. The baby, also known as Niko, was born on July 10, 2024.

‘She Has Always Looked White’: Beyoncé Faces New Skin Bleaching Rumors as Critics Compare Her ‘Light’ Complexion In Old Photos

News - Thu, 05/29/2025 - 00:00

For many, Beyoncé is arguably the greatest artist alive.

But with that grandiose title comes a lot of criticism and hate. It’s something Mrs. Carter has probably learned to look past, but that doesn’t stop disparaging comments from coming her way. Her loyal fanbase known as the Beyhive is always ready to defend or shut down any rumor or salacious claim about the singer at any given moment.

The most recent debate amongst Bey’s fans and critics is over the Houston native’s fair skin tone.

Fans share old photos of Beyonce sparking up old conversations about skin bleaching. (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images for The Recording Academy)

Pictures have surfaced recently of her in her younger years where arguments ensued about whether she’s been skin bleaching as some say she’s been looking lighter than usual in these past few years. These accusations really increased when she released her “Renaissance” album in 2022. During that time, she continued to rock a blond wig, which made her skin look lighter.

Last November, the singer, with deep ties to Creole culture, created a series of iconic looks inspired by Pamela Anderson in the music video for Bey’s “Cowboy Carter” song, “Bodyguard.” She can be seen rocking a layered blond wig reminiscent of Anderson’s hairstyle on “Baywatch,” paired with a bathing suit featuring the show’s name.

In response, a snippet was shared on X on May 18 with the caption “I’m starting to understand why white people think Beyoncé is guilty of cultural appropriation.”

Someone else responded, “I think the opposite. My conspiracy theory is that Beyonce is white and has been pretending to be black all this time. She has always looked white with a darker skin tone that was probably makeup.”

Another X discussion started when fans uploaded pictures of a young Beyoncé in her 1993-1994 class at St. James School. In the photo, the “Diva” can be seen smiling brightly alongside her classmates, which included seventh and eighth graders.

Fans mocked allegations that the “Brown Skin Girl” singer had been bleaching in the comments.

One person sarcastically said, “But I thought Beyoncé was dark skinned and that she was bleaching herself?!? Your sterile and stupid debates of complexes there.”

But I thought Beyoncé was dark skinned before the bleach… pic.twitter.com/ynYi2HUpmc

— BeyoncePark (@Beyonceparrk) May 17, 2025

Another who had the same sentiment wrote, “But I thought Beyoncé was dark skinned before the bleach…”

The Beyhive aren’t the only ones who will go to bat for Beyoncé. Her mother Tina Knowles will too, and in November 2023, she hit back at the critics that had something to say about her daughter’s appearance.

Mama Tina shared a video on Instagram which started with a photo of Beyoncé wearing platinum blond hair and a silver dress at the premiere of the Renaissance World Tour concert film. Judgmental statements about her skin popped up on the screen.

One read, “Why she looks so white?” Another said, “She’s not a black woman?” A third out of the several other sentences said, “She whitens her skin.” More photos of Queen Bey followed with the words “Brown Skin Girl” written across them.

Knowles also came to her daughter’s defense with a lengthy caption under the post.

She started, “Came across this today and decided to post it after seeing all of the stupid ignorant self, hating racist statements about her, lightening her skin, and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white. She does a film, called the renaissance, where the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet, and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide that she’s trying to be a white woman and is bleaching her skin?”

Knowles claimed a white journalist from TMZ tried to contact Beyoncé’s hairstylist, Neal Farinah, to get a statement about the skin tone accusations, which the protective mom said made her “blood boil.” She added that other Black celebrity women who have worn platinum in the past and asked fans “Are they all trying to be white?”

“Every time she does something that she works her a– off for and is a statement of her work ethic, talent and resilience. Here you sad little haters come out the woodwork,” Knowles added. “I am sick of you losers. I know that she is going to be pissed at me for doing this, but I am fed up! This girl minds her own business. She helps people whenever she can. She lifts up & promotes black women and underdogs at all times.”

While all the haters’ chatter seems to rile up her fans and her mom, Beyoncé remains mostly silent, only subtly addressing the criticism throughout her music and performances. In her song, “Formation,” she sings “Y’all haters corny with that Illuminati mess” and “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper. “

Beyoncé currently is on tour performing shows themed by her country-inspired “Cowboy Carter” album, where she takes the stage with her elder daughter, Blue Ivy, 13, and her younger daughter Rumi, 7.

‘Don’t Embarrass Me’: Resurfaced Clip Shows Michelle Obama Explaining How Malia and Her Prom Date Were Trailed By Secret Service

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 21:30

Prom season is in full swing, and social media timelines are flooded with videos and pictures of high school seniors celebrating their milestone moment.

But amidst all the glitz and glamour, a 2018 clip of former first lady Michelle Obama sharing her eldest daughter’s prom experience has resurfaced, reminding us: not all over-the-top prom experiences are about money.

A resurfaced clip of Michelle Obama talking about prom season for her daughter has captured America’s attention. (Photo: @michelleobama/Instagram; Ron Sachs-Pool/Getty Images)

Sometimes, security, status, and parenting under pressure make for a whole different kind of unforgettable night.

The resurfaced clip, originally aired on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and reposted by Lexonary, features Michelle telling the unforgettable story of Malia Obama’s 2015 prom night.

What should have been a typical teen rite of passage required layers of presidential security and White House coordination. And yet, the mother of two made it her mission to give her daughter a taste of normal teenage life—even if that meant bending protocol.

“Their whole lives were spent trying to have a normal life — go to soccer matches and birthday parties and sleepovers and have kids come over — with a security detail,” Michelle said while promoting her “Becoming” book tour in 2018.

So, when Malia asked if she could ride in her date’s car to prom, her mom pushed for it.

“My thing was, she got a ride in the car with her prom date, you know?” Michelle said to DeGeneres.

But nothing is simple when you live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Malia’s date had to go through the diplomatic entrance typically reserved for heads of state, pass multiple levels of inspection, and pick up the president’s daughter via the South Lawn.

Michelle made sure her daughter’s date wasn’t overwhelmed by the process. She even told Malia to remind him to clean the car, knowing security dogs would be doing sweeps.

On the night of the prom, the Obama family rode the elevator together to meet the young man. Malia gave them one request every teen can relate to: “Just be cool, you know? Please don’t embarrass me.”

Michelle recalled how grown-up her daughter looked in a bare-shouldered black top and elegant skirt. Dad Barack Obama showed up in flip-flops as he tried not to cry while pretending to keep his cool.

As the couple drove off, the scene quickly turned back into a national security operation. Three black SUVs filled with Secret Service agents followed them to prom.

Barack, in full dad mode, turned to his wife and joked, “This makes running for a second term all worthwhile. My daughter is being followed by men with guns… I’m good.”

The resurfaced story sparked reactions online with Lexonary followers.

“That’s every girl dad’s dream,” one user commented.

Another joked, “This is equivalent to the dad on the porch cleaning his gun.”

One fan wrote, “We know she was home on time and untouched too,” while another added, “He had the best eyes on them anyone could ask for!”

Michelle has long been open about the tightrope she and Barack walked while raising daughters under constant watch. In May, she described how they worked hard to make Malia and Sasha’s childhoods as normal as possible.

“Every weekend was a nightmare,” she told Kelly Ripa on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa,” explaining how typical teenage behavior could’ve landed in tabloids if not carefully managed.

She said even parties, playdates, and even driving lessons had to be arranged with an advance team and background checks.

Parents everywhere can identify with watching their teenager going off to prom, wanting to provide independence while ensuring safety, and recognizing their child is growing up, and Barack fighting back tears hits home for many dads.

Now in their mid-20s, Malia and Sasha Obama — 26 and 23 — have largely stayed out of the spotlight. Neither is active on social media, and public appearances are rare. Their low-profile lifestyles reflect how successfully their parents protected their right to privacy and gave them the freedom to choose what to share with the world.

The re-emergence of the old clip is a reminder that, despite the intense pressures of presidential life, the Obamas were, at their core, parents doing their best to create a sense of normalcy. They navigated the demands of White House security while still giving their daughters space to grow up like regular teenagers.

‘A Slap In Our Face’: Outraged Black Georgia Family Accuses Cops of Protecting White Man Who Drove Onto Sidewalk and Struck 7-Year-Old Boy; Prosecutor Refuses Homicide Charge

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 20:39

Dalton Cason, a 26-year-old white man, was under the influence of fentanyl and cocaine when he struck and killed a 7-year-old Black boy named Logan Sharpe last year in Georgia, according to a toxicology report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

But Pierce County prosecutors have refused to charge him with vehicular homicide, which would be the appropriate charge under state law because he was driving while under the influence of drugs, according to a Georgia criminal defense attorney.

And it was only after the boy’s family began talking about the case on social media that Cason was even charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, nine months after the deadly incident and three months after the results were finalized.

“It’s a slap in our face because they have the evidence and everything they need to charge Dalton with vehicular homicide, but they won’t do it,” said Logan’s mother, Shaunte Sharpe, in one of several interviews conducted by Atlanta Black Star to compile this exclusive report.

“Like my son’s life didn’t matter.”

Logan Sharpe was 7 years old when he was struck and killed by a white man driving while high on cocaine and fentanyl one year ago, but his family is still seeking justice.

It also appears the Georgia state trooper who responded to the scene lied in his report to protect Cason, twisting the words of an eyewitness who later provided a signed statement contradicting what the deputy had attributed to him in his report.

Georgia state trooper Chase Middleton claimed the 81-year-old Black man who was sitting on his front porch when the truck struck the boy had told him the boy was standing in the street when he was killed in an apparent effort to blame the child for his own death.

But the Black man wrote a signed witness statement saying he had told the cop that Sharpe had been walking on the sidewalk when he struck so hard that his body flew in the air and landed on the street, indicating that Cason had driven upon the sidewalk when he struck the child.

Another witness who showed up after the crash wrote a witness statement saying that Logan’s older brother, Keisean, was very distraught, repeatedly saying that the truck had driven on the sidewalk.

“He came on the sidewalk and hit my brother, he came on the sidewalk and hit my brother,” she quoted him as saying in her signed statement.

And another witness signed a statement saying she overheard the Black man telling the cop the child was on the sidewalk prior to being struck by Cason.

But Middleton, whose wife is Facebook friends with Cason, claimed the opposite in his report, which is why Cason was never charged with vehicular homicide.

The family also accuses Middleton of turning off his body camera during the investigation, which may be true, considering no mention of body camera video in any of the reports.

Compromising the Investigation

The responding officers also allowed Cason’s family to remove items from inside his truck after the crash rather than impound the vehicle to search it for evidence, according to one of the boy’s relatives, who is accusing Cason of having purchased drugs in their neighborhood prior to the crash that killed Sharpe, pointing out that Cason has a prior arrest for cocaine possession from 2022.

“The cops were standing right there, letting them remove stuff from his truck,” a relative said. “They didn’t search him and they didn’t search his truck because they let his family get what they wanted and whatever he had just bought.”

By then, the investigation had already been compromised because Cason had moved his truck before investigators even arrived on the scene, making it impossible for them to thoroughly analyze what had taken place.

And now the family is concerned that the state will destroy the evidence uncovered in the toxicology report, which would allow Cason to escape any accountability in the death of the boy who was struck and killed while playing outside his home.

“The fine print at the bottom of the toxicology report says they can discard those specimens because it’s been a year,” said Amaka Imamu, founder of Journey Black Foundation. This Atlanta-based company advocates for the civil rights of Black people who have been working with the family to raise awareness about the case.

“This is a similar situation to Ahmaud Arbery, how that started out,” Imamu added, referring to the case of the 25-year-old Black man killed while jogging in Georgia in 2020 after he was chased down by three white men and shot to death, only for those men to escape accountability for nearly three months until a video of the shooting went viral, placing public pressure on state investigators to file charges against all three men who are now serving prison sentences.

In fact, Arbery’s aunt, Carla Arbery, is part of the team trying to raise awareness on this case because of the parallels between the two cases.

“It took 74 days before any charges were filed in my nephew’s case,” Arbery said, founder of the organization, Stopping Ongoing Legal Oppression (SOLO) Advocacy Group, which is also helping raise awareness.

“And in Logan’s case, Dalton was not arrested until nine months later. I feel that the justice system has failed Logan like they failed Ahmaud.”

‘Logan Just Got Hit

The incident took place on May 19, 2024, in Patterson, a rural town in southern Georgia with a population of less than 1,000 people, where “everybody knows each other,” said the relative, who lives on the same block as her granddaughter, the boy’s mother.

Shaunte Sharpe said she was doing chores when her four children, including two sons and two daughters, were asked to go outside and play. Logan was the youngest.

“I said, ‘y’all clean up the house and then I’ll let y’all go down the street and play,” she said, which they did, so she gave them permission to play outside.

Minutes later, her oldest son, Keisean, came running into the house in a panic, telling her that Logan had just been struck by a truck.

“’Mom, call the police, call the police, Logan just got hit,’” she described him telling her.

She ran out the house and down the street and saw her son lying facedown in the street.

“I run straight to Logan and I’m screaming,” she said. “I get to him and the first thing I do is check for a pulse to see if he was still with us, but the moment I touched his neck, I couldn’t feel anything, and my heart just broke.”

“He had a gash on his head, his arm was broke, there was vomit and a little bit of blood on the road, his hip was split, like you could see the white meat so I’m screaming, I’m screaming and a crowd starts to gather.”

She said she was in a daze but eventually walked up to Cason, who was standing outside his truck further down the street with a white man and woman, possibly his father and wife.

“The girl turned around and looked at me, and her face was bloodshot red, like she had been crying her eyes out,” Shaunte Sharpe said.

“I looked at Dalton and said, ‘I know you did not mean to kill my child, at least apologize, say something to me that you acknowledge me, but he did not acknowledge me. He looked forward and didn’t say anything. He did not look at me one time.”

The Police Report

The incident report filed by Trooper Middleton stated Cason not only moved his vehicle prior to investigators arriving, he was also given the choice to do a blood draw which he agreed to do.

(Cason) stated he saw a large group of kids on the sidewalk. As he approached the kids, he stated that he did not see Sharpe run into the roadway but saw him in the road just prior to impact. He applied the brakes but could not stop in time.

After impact, Cason stated he got out of the vehicle to check on Sharpe. He then called 911. At this time, he moved his truck to the shoulder of the roadway as a large crowd began to gather around Sharpe. As first responders arrived, Cason stayed on scene, standing next to his truck with a deputy present during the investigation. I asked Cason if he would give a voluntary blood draw. He agreed to do so.

If it is true Cason saw the children playing on sidewalk as he was driving in that direction but did not see Logan run into the street, only seeing the boy right before impact, then it’s possible took his eyes off the road at some point, perhaps to look at his phone as so many drivers do these days.

“The state patrol told me they’re going to check his phone to see whether he was on the phone distracted when the accident happened,” the boy’s relative said, but she is not certain they actually did that.

“I ain’t seen none of that in the reports.”

Middleton also stated the following in his report, which was contradicted by the witness statement signed by Simon, the Black man sitting on his front porch when the crash occurred.

Witness 1, who was on the front porch of 3319 Tyre Bridge Road, stated that kids were playing in the roadway. He stated that the did not see initial impact but did see the truck traveling through the neighborhood. He stated that the truck did not appear to be driving excessively or recklessly.

But Middleton never interviewed any of Sharpe’s siblings or cousin who were part of the group of children playing together that day – who most likely would have provided a different account.

It is also not clear from the initial report what the trooper would have done had Cason refused the blood draw but the trooper also added that Cason had the car towed to a company of his choice for the mandatory five-day hold after traffic fatalities which is to allow cops to search it for evidence of a crime.

But by then, his family had already removed items from inside the truck, according to his family. And there is no evidence they actually searched the truck during that five-day period.

The Blood Test

Middleton submitted Cason’s blood to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on May 28, 2024, and the results came back on October 29, 2024, showing he tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and benzoylecgonine, which is a metabolite of cocaine.

However, the family did not learn of the results until December. It was only when Imamu, the founder of Journey Black Foundation, got involved and started posting about the toxicology reports on social media in January that led to Cason’s arrest on a misdemeanor DUI charge on February 2.

“I don’t feel like he would have been charged if we wouldn’t have went to social media with it,” said Shaunte Sharpe.

“They didn’t charge him until we put it on Facebook, and it started getting traction, and everybody started tagging the police department and the sheriff on Facebook.”

But the bottom of the toxicology report states that “biological evidence (body fluids and tissues) and proof determination evidence will be destroyed after one year” which is concerning to the family because May 28 marks exactly one year since the GBI received the blood to test, even though it took them five months to finalize the results.

Meanwhile, the family is trying to raise money for an attorney in their fight for justice, but nothing will ever be the same for them.

“He was the life of us because he brought us together,” said Shaunte Sharpe. “He was goofy and bubbly and real spunky.”

“It’s not fair to us because I had to bury my 7-year-old son, and he can’t grow up to have kids or graduate from high school or see his siblings grow up. And his siblings watched this. They watched their brother die in front of their eyes.”

Online court records from Pierce County show that Cason’s trial is scheduled for June 19 and it will go before a judge, not a jury.

“I just want justice,” Shaunte Sharpe said. “I just want Dalton to be held accountable because he knows what he done was wrong.”

‘It’s Easier to Just Get It Over with’: Black Driver Pulls Over Before Cop Can—Then Gets Detained for ‘Looking Suspicious’ Anyway

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 15:00

He was tired of constantly getting pulled over, so when the Hendersonville, North Carolina, man noticed a cop was tailing him the unidentified Black motorist pulled off into a parking lot … still followed by the cop, raising an interesting question in the driver’s mind.

“So I’m getting pulled over for pulling over?” said the man, who posts as @CrazyWorldRight on TikTok, where the video has received approximately 78,000 likes and has received nearly 5,000 comments and shares.

The cop responds, “It’s suspicious activity, yeah, man.” He then asked the driver if he normally pulls over when a cop is behind him.

The man’s response certainly resonated with Black drivers

“It’s easier than having them find a reason to pull me over,” he said. “It’s just easier to just easier to get this out of the way because I’m probably being pulled over for something anyway.”

Later, he tells the officer, “If being suspicious is a crime, I guess I committed a crime.”

One of the commenters who watched the video asked facetiously, “Is suspicion a misdemeanor or felony?”

In fact, suspicion is not a crime. The Fourth Amendment is the bulwark against too much government intrusion, but there is wiggle room for law enforcement.

According to GovFacts.org, the reasonable suspicion standard limits police intrusions. Officers must possess “specific and articulable facts” which, combined with rational inferences from those facts, would reasonably suggest criminal activity is occurring, has occurred, or is about to occur.

“When actions you took happen in front of law enforcement, it raises our concerns,” the cop said.

In Part 2 of the video, the cop attempts to explain himself further. In his telling of events, the Black driver turned on his hazard lights then pulled over into the parking lot of a closed business before he turned on his siren.

“It’s not criminal, but it raises my suspicions enough that I can get out and investigate to ensure criminal activity isn’t taking place,” the officer tells the man.

The cop told him he exhibited “the behavior of people trying to separate themselves from law enforcement.”

Reasonable suspicion, however, requires more than a hunch or gut feeling.

Objective observations about what makes something or someone suspicious must be articulated and cannot be based on discriminatory factors like race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs. Officers are required to justify their actions on more than just a subjective bias.

A significant majority of commenters found the driver guilty of one thing: Driving while Black.

“This is a case study video of a Black Man trying to explain what it’s like being black in America,” wrote one man. “He didn’t want to hear it.”

“WOW!!! This is America people!” wrote another. “This psychological mind play. And that free to leave talk. It’s like we’re captured. I’m exhausted.”

In the end, the driver was not ticketed.

“It’s life, you know,” he said.

‘He Definitely Cheated’: Hugh Jackman’s Wife Files for Divorce Two Years After the Actor Allegedly Began Seeing Broadway Co-Star Sutton Foster

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 14:15

Hugh Jackman’s estranged wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, finally filed official divorce papers after leaving the “Deadpool & Wolverine” movie star two years ago.

Furness filed the complaint in New York’s Suffolk County Supreme Court on May 23. According to reports, specific details for the divorce had already been finalized beforehand.

Paperwork filed by Furness’ attorney featured a notice about health care coverage continuation, a medical child support order, and the New York state child support registry form. The official certificate of dissolution was also included.

Furness and the “Wolverine” actor married in April 1996 after initially meeting while acting on the Australian television series “Correlli.” After 27 years, the adopted parents of a son named Oscar (born in 2000) and a daughter named Ava (born in 2005), announced the end of their marriage in September 2023.

I love you @Deborra_lee. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS! I love you so much and together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my… pic.twitter.com/EnPaM8eQSf

Despite publicly insisting the estrangement was amicable, industry gossip suggested Jackman’s business-turned-personal relationship with his “The Music Man” co-star Sutton Foster played a role in his marriage to Furness falling apart.

‘My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,’ Furness said in a statement shared with The Daily Mail. ‘It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.'”

She continued, “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.”

‘It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.’

Foster, 50, wed “Ocean’s Eleven” screenwriter Ted Griffin in October 2014 before she filed for divorce in October 2024. “The Music Man” musical starring Foster and Jackman debuted on Broadway in February 2022.

The timing of Foster and Griffin breaking up, as well as Furness and Jackman breaking up, led to speculation that “The Music Man” cast members were cheating on their respective significant others. However, rumors of infidelity have not been substantiated.

Jackman and Foster have not confirmed their apparent romance, but the two actors were spotted out together in January 2025 in Santa Monica. In May of that year, they were caught holding hands and laughing while out in Los Angeles.

Daily Mail readers weighed in on the news that Furness officially submitted paperwork to divorce the Sydney-born entertainer. Some people offered their opinion on the currently undisclosed way the ex-couple’s financial assets will be divided.

“Deborra was instrumental in his rise to the top. She should get half… no less,” one person offered in the comment section.

After a 30-year career in showbiz, Jackman has an estimated net worth of around $100 million, with some estimates reaching as high as $250 million.

Another Furness backer posted, “You know what? He did her so wrong. I hope once it’s done and over, she finds happiness like she’s never known.”

A second exclaimed, “He definitely cheated in my opinion, no doubt in my mind, he should give Deborra what she is entitled to, he us so cancelled in this house, will never watch him again, it am sick of these lying and cheating people who stand there commanding respect and adoration from fans, well no, you don’t get that for nothing, earn the respect from fans.

“Foster will now have an idea how much she will get when she dumps him in a few years time,” wrote one skeptic of Hugh and Sutton’s budding love affair that remains regular gossip news fodder.

Over on the People website, a disgruntled commenter took direct aim at Jackman by writing, “He did her dirty.” A like-minded individual responded, “Absolutely agree! Lost all respect for him.”

While there is still the unanswered question about how much the demise of Furness’ marriage to Jackman was caused by him hooking up with Foster, the soon-to-be divorcée could be ready to move on to a new partner.

“It’s taking time, but Debs is finally starting to heal and talk about what she wants in her life going forward,” an unnamed supposed source revealed to Closer Weekly just weeks before the divorce papers were filed.

The alleged insider added, “She’d love to have some romance in her life again because, truth be told, that part of her marriage was pretty dead for a long time.” Meanwhile, Furness has continued to pursue her acting career in movies like 2024’s “Force of Nature: The Dry 2.”

‘What’s Going On?!’: Viral Video Captures Miami Cop Firing Into Car from Hood as Unarmed Black Man Tries to Park, Frantic Bystanders Flee

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 12:00

Family members claim that a Miami police officer unjustly shot a 21-year-old man outside the site of a music festival on the weekend of Memorial Day, sparking chaos among festivalgoers.

The shooting took place on Sunday, May 25, near Best of the Best Concert, a Caribbean music festival that was held at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.

A viral cellphone video shows a police officer lying on top of the hood of a moving BMW as he fires his weapon three times into the vehicle. “What’s going on?” yells a concerned passerby.

The driver stops, runs out of the car, and puts his hands up. After that, he falls to the ground, and another officer orders him to roll over and handcuffs him. Viewers can see a bloody spot in the middle of the driver’s back.

Family members identified the driver as 21-year-old Menelek Clarke.

According to police, the officer who shot Clarke was directing traffic near the festival when Clarke’s car hit him.

“One of our officers was on a traffic post when — we’re still investigating what exactly what happened — but we know that a vehicle made physical contact with the officer. As a result of that incident, shots were fired,” Assistant Police Chief Armando Aguilar told WPLG.

Clarke’s sister, who was in the car with Clarke when he was shot, said that she and her brother were looking for a parking spot when they encountered the officer.

“We were all stopped. We were in the middle and he told everyone else to go with his hands, signaling that we can go,” Sheralynn Clarke told local news outlets. “It wasn’t intentional to hit him, no. The man moved with the car as he was going around him.”

Sheralynn said the officer directed Clarke’s vehicle, but moved with him, and eventually came into contact with the vehicle, and then “stood in front of her brother’s car and shot him.” She said her brother had no weapons in the car.

“He was trying to move and the police officer went in front of his car again and he’s moving with his car as he’s moving, trying to get out of his way, so obviously they came into contact because he’s hovering over my brother’s car, touching his car. Then he pulls out his gun to shoot him,” she said.

Another cellphone video shows festival attendees running from the site of the shooting moments after the shots were fired. Footage also shows Clarke on a gurney being rolled into an ambulance.

A woman claiming to be Clarke’s cousin fired off in the comments against those attempting to “spread false narratives.”

“This is my cousin! He was shot from inside of his car! He doesn’t own a weapon and he’s not in a gang! The officer discharged his weapon UNWARRANTED. My cousin was just trying to get into the parking lot. Please don’t spread false narratives, especially when you were not there. Keep him in your prayers or don’t. But keep that negativity to YOURSELF!!! He didn’t do anything wrong or intend to harm ANYONE. have some HUMANITY.”

Clarke was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. His family said he’s in stable condition. The officer was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

“He’s stable. He just got a tube taken out, so he’s talking,” Clarke’s sister said. “He said that he felt like he was going to die, and I feel that he was wrongfully shot multiple times in his vehicle with no weapon.”

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the shooting. Clarke has not been charged with any offenses. Miami police say “no further details will be provided” at this time.

‘He Looks Less Than Thrilled’: Fans Zoom In on Travis Kelce’s Facial Expression During Date Night with Taylor Swift

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 11:30

After almost two years of dating, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are still going strong — or so they appear to be.

Rumors continuously swirl about whether the two are getting engaged or considering of having a baby. And each week they struggle to escape the gossip mill or any speculation about a breakup.

This is the case for their recent outing in Palm Beach, Florida, on May 23. Swift and Kelce were spotted grabbing a bite to eat at a restaurant called Harry’s. However, the photos that surfaced from that date night had fans assuming something was off in their relationship.

Swift and Kelce walked hand-in-hand in the restaurant as they headed to their table.

The “Bad Blood” singer opted for a soft flirty outfit by wearing a white loose-fitted dress with pink flowers. Her hairstyle of choice was a messy updo which she chose to wear in its naturally curly state. Through the grainy photos, it also looked like the singer had on her signature cherry red lipstick.

As for her NFL player boyfriend, he wore a more relaxed vacation look. He had on a heavily patterned black shirt and what appeared to be light colored pants, topped with a dark colored cap that covered his hair.

Despite being on what looked like a romantic date, fans who zoomed in on Swift’s facial expressions began jumping to conclusions. In one photo, the “Marry Me” singer was walking next to the Kansas City Chiefs player with a wine glass in her hand but appeared to have a neutral expression. Some fans took that as her looking unhappy, even though she was smiling in another picture as the two sat at their table.

One person wrote in the comments section of the Daily Mail article about the outing, “She looks miserable.”

Another said, “The beginning of the end, before Travis led the way, looked excited, in all of the early pictures, now he looks less than thrilled and dragging along in the back.”

An Instagram fan page account for Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce posted a separate photo of their outing, which led to more fans sharing their concerns for Swift, who had a serious facial expression as Kelce was talking to her.

One person posted, “She looks extremely sad or worried here.”

Someone else wrote, “Looks like we are interrupting a serious conversation.”

There have not been any definitive signs that Swift and Kelce are headed for a breakup. In fact, on May 26, the Daily Mail reported that there were rumors of an engagement timeline for the couple. Allegedly, the Kansas City Chiefs player is looking to propose after he finishes his next season of football which begins again in September.

‘Let Me Find Out Tyler Perry Produce This’: Outrage Erupts Over Satirical Portrayal of Michelle and Barack Obama Making ‘White House Love’ In New Musical Based on His Presidency

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 01:35

Barack and Michelle Obama‘s time in the White House takes center stage in a new play called “44 – The unOFFICIAL, unSANCTIONED OBAMA MUSICAL,” which is now playing at a Southern California theater.

People are already outraged due to the satirical nature of the play, as it appears to take a mocking approach to a serious and historic time in history. But there is one particular scene that has the internet talking and blaming production for the sardonic portrayal of the first Black president and the former first lady.

A short clip of the play, uploaded by a TikTok content creator, shows actors portraying the Obamas as they sang about having an intimate rendezvous in the White House. While the viral moment got thousands of likes on the social media app, it also received plenty of side eyes.

In the play, vocalist T.J. Wilkins plays Barack, and “Smile” singer Shanice portrays Michelle. Dancing hand in hand, the two sing soulfully to one another. Shanice dons a light colored satin robe, while Wilkins wears a white dress shirt, a light blue tie, and black slacks.

Together they sing “Let’s Make White House Love” in front of a live audience who can be heard laughing in the background. As the duo continued singing to each other, actor Chad Doreck, who portrays former President Joe Biden, dances his way toward the stage couple and eventually joins in the song.

Doreck steps between the actors before hugging the fake Barack, who then pushes Doreck toward the back of the stage.

With him out the way, the main actors (Barack and Michelle) rejoin hands and come closer together before singing “I’m ’bout to make White House love to you.”

The scene cuts to another part of the play with “Michelle” wearing a black mesh and glittery jumpsuit and “Barack” in his black suit. They stand in front of a screen with the American flag on it, and Wilkins sings his rendition of “America the Beautiful” in a gospel-like tone.

Fans online had mixed reactions in the comment section of The Neighborhood Talk’s post and on TikTok.

Two critics said, “Hey, so I don’t think I like this” and ” “The cease and desist on this is gonna be fun.”

Some even compared the musical to other popular musicals on Broadway, writing, “Y’all laughing but this is technically the same thing as Hamilton.”

Another said, “Let me find out Tyler Perry Produce this,” drawing comparisons to Perry’s early musical productions from the 2000s before he made the switch over to movies and sitcoms. Most of Perry’s musicals consist of predominately Black casts who often sing songs with gospel-like influences, a signature style that fans say this production seems to echo.

But there were some people who were sanguine about the play.

Two supporters claimed, “It’s different. I’ll give it that,” and “The play is phenomenal! You have to see it to understand all the satire.”

“44 – The unOFFICIAL, unSANCTIONED OBAMA MUSICAL” is meant to be a satirical musical about Barack’s presidency. The musical was written, composed and directed by Eli Bauman, who in 2008 was a campaign organizer for Barack himself.

The theatre production has already taken home seven 2023 Broadway World L.A. Awards with performances in NYC, Philadelphia and Chicago. At the Kirk Douglas Theatre in the L.A. suburb of Culver City, where it is currently running, performances will go on until June 22.

‘Shaq Was Straight Up Hating’: Shaquille O’Neal Exposes Dennis Rodman’s Wild Habits — and Fans Say the Jealousy Is Loud

News - Wed, 05/28/2025 - 00:43

Shaquille O’Neal has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind, and his latest comments about former teammate Dennis Rodman are no exception.

The NBA legend recently shared some details about Rodman’s hygiene habits during their time together with the Los Angeles Lakers. What started as a discussion about greatness quickly turned into a revealing confession about jealousy, personal habits, and the unexpected ways charisma can work in professional sports.

During the 1998-99 NBA season, two of basketball’s most larger-than-life figures found themselves sharing the same locker room, bringing together O’Neal’s dominant presence in the paint and Rodman’s unmatched rebounding prowess. However, what transpired off the court proved to be more memorable than their on-court chemistry, particularly when it came to Rodman’s approach to personal hygiene and his magnetic appeal in Los Angeles nightlife.

Speaking candidly in a recent interview with Ashley Neville, O’Neal didn’t hold back when discussing what really bothered him about the flamboyant forward.

“I don’t like [Dennis] Rodman because he did something I could never do. When he played with us with the Lakers, he would show up late to the pregame meetings eating rice and chicken. Never warmed up, went and got 20 freaking rebounds a game. After the game, never showered, went to the club and had all the beautiful girls from L.A. at his table all over him… smelling like garbage truck water, and they loved him,” O’Neal revealed.

The four-time NBA champion’s frustration became even more apparent as he described his own experiences at the same nightclubs.

“And I used to walk in the club [baffled], and all the pretty girls were like [interested in him] … and I’m like, ‘That’s the girl I was looking at,’ and they’re all over there with him, and I’m like, ‘Damn.’ It drove me crazy,” he continued.

O’Neal’s honest admission highlighted not just his confusion but also a grudging respect for Rodman’s inexplicable charisma.

This isn’t the first time O’Neal has shared this particular story about his former teammate.

In 2022, during an episode of his Big Podcast, according to CBS Sports, he elaborated on their dynamic, even going so far as to call Rodman the “worst” teammate he had ever played with throughout his 20-year career.

“He was a great player, but he made it hard. Like when you try to corral the guys together and the people above you [are] letting this one guy do whatever he wants,” O’Neal explained, describing Rodman’s habit of arriving just minutes before games while coaches were still conducting meetings.

The story has evolved slightly over the years, with O’Neal sometimes adjusting details but maintaining the core narrative about Rodman’s unconventional routine.

In a 2024 version of the tale, he described how Rodman would “come in with 40 minutes on the clock, eating chicken and rice not paying attention,” then take a cold shower during team meetings before delivering outstanding performances on the court.

When the clip from O’Neal’s most recent interview was posted on Nevel’s Instagram, fans had plenty to say about the basketball legend’s candid revelations.

The reactions were decidedly mixed, with many calling out what they perceived as jealousy on O’Neal’s part.

“That’s some low key hate lol damnnnnn!” one fan wrote, capturing the sentiment of many who viewed O’Neal’s comments as petty.

Another supporter of Rodman chimed in, “Shaq was straight up hating lol who gives a f worry about you big guy he getting the job done.”

A third commenter offered some pointed advice, “Don’t hate learn from a pimp sweat is apart the game, what a reason not to like someone insecurities get it together my guy smdh.”

However, not all the social media commentary focused on criticizing O’Neal.

Some fans directed their attention toward the women who were apparently drawn to Rodman despite his questionable hygiene.

“Money makes women do strange things,” one person observed.

Meanwhile, others attempted to provide a scientific explanation for Rodman’s success with the opposite sex.

“Male sweat contains androstenol which is attractive to women and increases female hormones. Rodman anecdotally knew this, I guarantee it,” one person wrote.

Despite the tensions and O’Neal’s obvious frustration with Rodman’s methods, their brief partnership with the Lakers represented a unique moment in NBA history.

Though they only played together for one season, with Rodman appearing in just 23 games, their contrasting personalities and approaches to basketball created a dynamic that continues to generate discussion decades later. The relationship between these two icons serves as a reminder that even among elite athletes, personal chemistry and professional respect don’t always align perfectly.

MAGA TV Host Admits He Feels ‘Very Creepy” and ‘Weird’ After Trying to Mock Rep. Jasmine Crockett On Air

News - Tue, 05/27/2025 - 22:45

Real America’s Voice TV host and MAGA supporter David Brody said he felt “very creepy” and “weird” after trying to mock Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) during a panel segment on Crockett’s plan to investigate President Donald Trump and his family if Democrats win back the U.S. House of Representatives during the midterm elections next year.

Brody was discussing Crockett’s intentions with a panel on Tuesday when his co-host, Beau Davidson, asked Brody about more federal investigations.

“So my question to you is, if Jasmine Crockett is right, if they take over the House, is that what we have to look forward to, more ridiculous investigations and maybe even another impeachment?” Davidson asked.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) speaks onstage during the first day of the Democratic National Convention at the United Center on August 19, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. Brody said, “Yeah, absolutely.”

“Her and AOC, really? These are the poster women representatives for the Democrat [sic] Party. Hey, good luck with that. I’ll buy you a tuna fish sandwich if you can pull it off,” he said.

Brody then tried to mimic Crockett’s head movements, Raw Story reported, as he said, “By the way, did you notice her in that sound bite? The dance. She was like, come on. Come on. I’m ready.”

Then he seemed to consider what he was doing. “Just first of all, the fact that I just did it makes me feel very creepy about myself and weird, but the fact that she did it, oh my gosh,” Brody said.

During another panel discussion on Tuesday on Real America’s Voices, Crockett and her statements about investigating Trump came up again. Host Steve Gruber was talking with Congressman Mark Harris (R-NC).

“I’d like you to weigh in on this, Congressman, because one of your colleagues across the aisle seems to think that she’s going to be the chair of the Oversight Committee,” Gruber said, according to Raw Story ” … and they’ll be going after Donald Trump with some gusto.”

“How frightening is that?” Gruber asked.

“Well, extremely frightening,” Harris told Gruber. “And I think that is the wake-up call, as if Republicans needed a wake-up call. Listen, we’ve got to make sure that we understand that every election matters.”

Crockett promised investigations into accusations of corruption against Trump and his family during a recent interview with MSNBC.

“So long as we end up taking the House, which I fully anticipate that we will do, and we are going to work hard to help our Senate colleagues as well, then as someone who serves on the Oversight Committee and hopes to lead the Oversight Committee, I can guarantee you that we will do what we are supposed to do as constitutionally sworn members of the House,” Crockett said. “Which means that we will conduct oversight. That means that we will investigate.”

“We will look at whether or not this president himself has violated the Emoluments Clause as it relates to such things as getting a $400 million plane from the Qataris,” Crockett continued.

“Also, we’ll make sure that we are looking into all these business deals that they have going on,” she added.

The Emoluments Clause is part of Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution and prohibits government officials from accepting gifts, benefits, titles, or offices from foreign governments without approval from Congress.

“Let me tell you there is no shortage of things for us to dig into and determine whether or not there have been violations of the law, but definitely violations of our Constitution as a whole,” Crockett said.
