‘Happy You Had Such a Great Night’: Chrissy Tiegen’s Girls Night Out with ’90s Boy Band Backstreet Boys Takes a Turn After Fans Zoom In on Her Missing Wedding Ring

Mon, 07/21/2025 - 22:16

Chrissy Teigen found herself reliving her Utah pre-teen days when she attended the Backstreet Boys’ history-making residency at Sphere Las Vegas without her husband.

The model and television personality, who’s married to EGOT winner John Legend, found herself reliving the magic of the ’90s and MTV’s TRL crushes as the multi-platinum boy band delivered their “Into the Millennium” tour to the cutting-edge venue.

What should have been a simple girls night out celebrating ’90s nostalgia quickly turned into social media detective work when fans noticed an absent detail.

The mother of four documented a few euphoric moments of the evening, posting a carousel that captured pure joy alongside her crew, all dressed in matching white.

Teigen’s Instagram showed women in their element, screaming lyrics and dancing without inhibition to the soundtrack of their youth.

Her caption read like a love letter to both the band and simpler times. “I danced so hard, I screamed, I had breathless joy and laughter with friends. My heart was bursting with love for a group that so many of us connect back to a time when life was simpler. Young, fun, free, full of posters and crushes and landlines directly connected to TRL.”

The emotional tribute extended to the performers themselves as Teigen acknowledged the impact of their return.

“I hope every single one of you @backstreetboys were able to look out into that crowd and see how LOVED you are,” she wrote. “Thank you to your families for sharing you with us again. Thank you to everyone at sphere for being SO kind to us and letting a bunch of moms have the best night of our lives.”

Band member AJ McLean responded with genuine warmth, commenting, “Love you babe. So happy you got to see the show with your ladies.”

“So nice to see you smile like that. Happy you had such a great night in good company,” said one person in her comments.

But while the interaction was sweet, fans were focused on something else entirely. Sharp-eyed followers began examining the photos with forensic precision, and one observation sparked immediate chatter.

“Chrissy is not wearing her wedding ring,” someone pointed out, launching a thread of speculation and commentary. Instead of letting rumors spiral, Teigen jumped in with characteristic directness and humor, responding, “Truly forgot it!!!! lollll.”

Her quick clarification didn’t stop the playful banter that followed.

“Holding out for AJ!! We GET IT!!” one fan joked, while another chimed in, “I wouldn’t be wearing mine if I was rubbing shoulders with @backstreetboys either.”

Thankfully, reasonable voices prevailed, with one supporter writing, “We all know she is happily married, no need to make a fuss over nothing.”

This wasn’t Teigen’s first time making Backstreet Boys headlines. Back in 2018, according to Today, she became the unofficial spokesperson for confused fans everywhere when she took to Twitter to decode the perplexing lyrics of “I Want It That Way.”

— So Mello Yello (@YoMelloYello) June 2, 2018

Her now-deleted tweet questioned the logic behind the narrator not wanting to hear someone say they want it that way while simultaneously wanting it that way himself.

The inquiry was so spot-on that the Backstreet Boys themselves felt compelled to provide an official explanation, clarifying that the song was about not wanting to hear wishes for relationship problems.

Despite her obvious Backstreet Army credentials, Teigen remains firmly planted in her role as Mrs. John Rogers Stephens and mother to their four children. Recently, though, that role has drawn its own scrutiny as social media users critique her parenting approach, particularly in the kitchen where the family bonds over cooking.

A July clip showed 9-year-old daughter Luna sitting on the kitchen counter with bare feet while handling garlic and oil, prompting Legend to comment off-camera about how wonderful everything would smell before noting it would take time for the scent to leave her hands. As the father and daughter seasoned fresh fish with oil and minced garlic, Luna displayed touching empathy for the animal, saying “I’m sorry, buddy” as they prepared the meal.

Fans could not get over the mom “forgetting” to remove her daughter’s feet from the cooking area.

Whether she’s remembering to wear her wedding ring or not while screaming for her childhood crushes, Teigen keeps sharing these real glimpses into celebrity family life, reminding everyone that even famous moms sometimes forget the small details while creating lasting memories.

‘Oh, I’m Harassing?’: White Woman Calls the Cops on Black Neighbors for Playing Basketball On Court, But Her Plan Backfires When a Black Officer Shows Up

Mon, 07/21/2025 - 21:00

You can now add basketball to the list of fun, everyday activities that suddenly become “illegal” in the eyes of a “Karen” when Black people do them.

A group of men was playing a casual game of basketball on a court in an apartment complex where one of them lived when a white woman approached and started harassing them, a viral video shows.

Video shows a white woman confronting a group of Black men playing basketball. (Photos:TikTok/Keyylashae2)

The woman, who happened to be barefoot, also seemed to live at the complex and had likely seen other games on the court before, but seeing Black friends enjoy themselves was apparently too much, and she ordered them to move on.

“My BF called me to let me know what was going on, and I drove to his location immediately,” Keyylashae2 wrote in the caption to her video that is now going viral on TikTok. “[The woman] was told several times to stop harassing them, but continued to do so. My BF and his friends were very respectful and didn’t feed into her foolishness.”

At one point in the video, the harassing woman told Keyylashae2 the court was “not free 99,” and at another point, she could be seen lurking outside the gate, staring down the players. Eventually, she called the police, but the outcome wasn’t what she bargained for.

Three officers responded to her complaint, and the lead officer was also Black. When the woman claimed the players were trespassing on private property, the officer quickly shut her down and turned the tables, telling her to stop “harassing these people.”

“Oh, I’m harassing?” she asked the officer incredulously before calling him “babe” and walking away while he was in mid-sentence. She led him to the sign posted at the entrance to the court, which stated that anyone living in the complex is permitted to play and invite guests to join them, according to Keyylashae2, who captured the entire exchange.

Within hours of posting on TikTok, the comment section exploded. “Playing basketball???  in a basketball court??? The horror!” exclaimed one.

“The microaggression… I would have said, What does ‘free 99’ mean?!” wrote an outraged person. “And it’s not Free 99 for that bail she has to post,” replied another. “Ugh, put some shoes on… gross. Karen needs to stop bothering people.”

“So why aren’t they ever arrested for false reports… that’s what kills me,” stated another.

Abusing 911 and weaponizing the police against the Black community too often leads to false arrests and frightening or humiliating situations when the caller is simply being racist. However, this time around, the encounter had a more favorable outcome. “I didn’t get it on video, but the Black cop started playing ball with them too! Happy ending,” wrote Keyylashae2.

At the end of the video, it appeared that the woman was being handcuffed by one of the officers, but an arrest has not been confirmed. But the question, asked by one commenter, remains: “I wonder if it would have been the same ending if the Black cop wasn’t there? Just wondering.”

But it seems everyone can agree that “harassing people for playing basketball at a basketball court is crazy.”

‘Divorced from Reality’: Florida Cop Created ‘False Narrative’ In Police Report to Justify Punching and Dragging Black Man in Viral Video, Attorneys Say

Mon, 07/21/2025 - 18:48

A Florida sheriff’s department has launched an internal investigation following the release of a viral video showing officers breaking a car window, punching a driver in the face, and forcibly removing him from the vehicle during a February traffic stop for driving without headlights.

The incident, which occurred on February 19, 2025, involved a confrontation between a group of Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Black man who has since been identified as 22-year-old William McNeil Jr. Now, that deputy has been stripped of his duties pending the investigation.

The disturbing video, posted early Sunday, sparked outrage on social media, showing a savage encounter that left McNeil with a chipped tooth and nine stitches in his lip, according to an Instagram influencer named Mr. Checkpoint, an independent journalist who analyzes cases of police brutality and excessive force.

McNeil has since retained nationally renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump and attorney Harry Daniels to seek justice. According to a statement from Crump’s office, the assault is part of a deeply rooted pattern of excessive force by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. During the encounter, officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) smashed McNeil’s car window and punched him repeatedly in the face, attorneys said.

“This should never have happened,” Crump said in the statement. “It should be obvious to anyone watching this video that William McNeil wasn’t a threat to anyone. He was calmly exercising his constitutional rights and they beat him for it.”

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Sunday, addressing the incident six months after McNeil’s violent arrest.

“We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a traffic stop represented to be from February 19, 2025. We have launched an internal investigation into it and the circumstances surrounding this incident. We hold our officers to the highest standards and are committed to thoroughly determining exactly what occurred,” the statement was signed by Duval County Sheriff T.K. Waters.

In the video, officers can be seen surrounding McNeil’s vehicle during what began as a stop for allegedly having his headlights off. The driver questioned the reason for the stop, stating that it was not raining and that other cars around him also didn’t have their headlights on.

“It doesn’t matter, you’re still required to have headlights on,” an officer is heard saying from the passenger side, out of frame.

“Can you pull that law up?” the driver asked.

“Yeah, when you step out of the car, I will,” the officer replied.

The driver then asked, “Can you call your supervisor?” The officer responded with, “Huh,” and the driver repeated the request. The officer then said, “Alright, go for it.”

Moments later, another officer standing outside the driver’s side began punching the window, causing the glass to shatter. McNeil remained still despite the dramatic escalation, with the officer yelling in his ear, “Exit the vehicle now,” before cold-cocking the driver through the broken window. “Show me your hands,” the officer shouted.

“Here,” the driver said calmly, raising his hands. “What is your reason, sir?”

An officer then opened the door and yanked the driver from his seat, shouting, “Step out!” At that point, one officer reached across the driver and unlatched his seat belt. From there, the officer yanked him out by his clothes, and at least five officers grabbed McNeil, manhandling him. Even then, McNeil did not fight back. One officer yelled, “Get on the ground,” and “stop fighting,” even though McNeil wasn’t resisting. An officer can be seen grabbing his head and punching him in the chin before forcing him to the ground.

The physical takedown during the arrest was not caught on video, but the audio continues. An officer is heard yelling, “Stop fighting,” “Hands behind your back,” and “Stop resisting.”

The driver replied, “What do you mean, I was putting my hands behind my back?” Then he asked, “What’s going on, man?”

“You’re under arrest, that’s what’s going on,” one officer grumbled.

As the man was handcuffed, an officer could be heard stating that the driver had marijuana in his right pocket. The video ends shortly thereafter.

According to News4JAX, McNeil was “adjudicated guilty” of resisting an officer without violence and driving on a suspended license. Other citations for not wearing a seat belt and driving without headlights in inclement weather appear to have been dismissed.

McNeil was sentenced to two days in jail, which he had already served by the time of his arraignment.

The original post, which first appeared on Substack, described the driver as calm and nonviolent during the entire ordeal.

By Sunday afternoon, the video had racked up thousands of views and comments online.

Despite the video’s spread, a spokesperson for JSO initially told news outlets that no complaint matching the description had been filed. The agency said it is still working to confirm the driver’s identity.

Florida Rep. Angie Nixon also weighed in, announcing on social media that she had contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

“Hey folks. I’ve been tagged and sent the video regarding the man getting beat up by JSO a few times today. I’ve reached out to the Sheriff’s Office. I’ll be sending a formal letter and request to meet about that, the deaths in the jail, and other cases related to potential JSO misconduct,” Nixon wrote.

Attorney Harry Daniels, who is also representing McNeil, expressed his outrage as well: “I am absolutely disgusted by the actions of these officers but, unfortunately, I’m not surprised. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has a long history of this kind of needless violence and brutality.”

Crump’s office pointed to a pattern of abuse involving JSO. In September 2023, the department faced national scrutiny after officers were filmed violently beating 24-year-old Le’Keian Woods, who was unarmed at the time. In another high-profile case, JSO officers were named in a 2019 federal lawsuit for the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Jamee Johnson during a traffic stop over an alleged seat belt violation.

McNeil’s legal team says the Feb. 19 incident is yet another example of why law enforcement agencies like JSO must be held accountable.

According to the police report obtained by First Coast News, McNeil was pulled over after an officer claimed his headlights and taillights were off during inclement weather and that he was not wearing a seatbelt. However, in the viral video, McNeil appears to be buckled in.

The officer wrote that McNeil “quickly opened” the driver’s side door and became “verbally combative” as soon as the vehicle came to a stop. After the officer told him why he was being stopped and requested identification, McNeil reportedly replied, “Call your supervisor,” before shutting and locking the door, prompting the officer to call for backup.

The report states that McNeil was told multiple times he would be arrested for resisting without violence and warned that officers would break his window if he didn’t comply. When McNeil refused, the officer wrote that the window was broken and officers attempted to remove him from the car.

At that point, according to the report, McNeil was “reaching for the floorboard of the vehicle where a large knife was sitting” as multiple officers tried to pull him out. It also says he “refused to place his hands behind his back,” prompting officers to use “physical force.”

The police agency also released body camera video that shows the knife on the floor of the car.

The report notes that McNeil was eventually placed in handcuffs and complained of a chipped tooth. The officer documented observing blood on his mouth. Officers also said they recovered 3.5 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and the knife allegedly seen in the floorboard.

Despite documenting the physical resistance, the report does not mention the specific punches shown in the viral video or any use of force while McNeil was still inside the car.

McNeil’s team released a statement following the revealtions about the report:

The narrative in this report isn’t just suspicious. It is completely divorced from reality. Not only is he clearly wearing his seatbelt in the video, he never reaches for anything. In fact, the only time he moves at all is when the officer knocks him over by punching him in his face. Then this young man calmly sits back straight and holds his empty hands up.

He’s never combative, never raises his voice  and he certainly never reaches for a knife. He simply asks for a supervisor and then they break his window and beat him yet, somehow, the report failed to mention that.

I don’t know which is worse, that this officer clearly tried to justify his illegal brutality with this fabrication or that his supervisors signed off on it.

‘He Is Keeping Sweeney in the Wings Ready to Go’: Lauren Sánchez Reportedly Clashes with Jeff Bezos After Learning He’s Supporting Sydney Sweeney’s Lingerie Venture

Mon, 07/21/2025 - 18:26

“Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney’s appearance at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s Venice wedding has sparked a lot of online speculation.

According to a writer on Substack, Sweeney, 27, and Sánchez, 55, have bad blood despite the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated actress showing up to Lauren’s nuptials on June 27.  This claim goes on to say the supposed animosity is apparently the result of dubious reports that Bezos, 61, was personally investing in what is rumored to be an upcoming Sweeney luxury lingerie line.

According to accurate reports, Ben Schwerin, a fellow investor in a private equity fund with Bezos and Michael Dell, has been reported to back her as-yet unrevealed nightwear brand.

“Sydney’s not that close with Jeff or Lauren,” an unnamed source told gossip columnist Rob Shuter. “But she got invited to their Venice wedding for a reason — business.”

A second unidentified insider claimed that there was “definitely some tension” due to the fact that “Lauren didn’t realize just how involved Jeff was in this. It’s… awkward.”

Sweeney’s apparent financial connection to the recently wed Amazon founder has ignited heated discussions on the internet.

Yahoo commenters shared their opinions about the supposed “tension” between Sánchez and Sweeney, with many of their takes focused on whispers of cheating in the past and possible infidelity in the future.

“Bezos is smart enough to see this as a business and not a new toy. He already knows what divorces cost and got away cheap,” one person suggested about the likelihood that the billionaire would hook up with Sweeney.

A second poster aimed at Lauren by writing, “This is a relationship already starting off with ZERO trust. Sánchez should realize that if they cheat WITH you, they’ll cheat ON you.”

“That didn’t take long. Next,” said one person, predicting the couple are already headed for splitsville weeks after their wedding

“Hey Lauren remember all the Botox and silicone in the world can not stop the aging process. At one point Jeff will trade you in for a less mileage unit! He is keeping Sweeney in the wings ready to go!” said another.

Likewise, one comment warned, “Well, Lauren, he traded in his wife for you. When the miles or age start to show, you know what he will do.”

“Cheaters sure have trust issues. Both Jeff and Lauren cheated on their spouses. So not surprising if Jeff [has] roaming eyes once he gets tired of a sure thing,” expressed another commenter, referring to unproven accusations involving the newlyweds.

Bezos and Sánchez first went public as a couple in 2019 at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London. Before the pair made it official, Bezos was married to MacKenzie Scott from 1993 to 2019. Bezos and Scott have four children together.

Even though the timing of his relationship launch with Sánchez suggested an overlap with his first marriage, Bezos has denied cheating on Scott with the former “Good Day L.A.” television host.

Sánchez has also entered her second marriage. Previously, she wed high-profile talent agent Patrick Whitesell. They tied the knot in 2005 before divorcing in 2019, the same year Lauren started dating Bezos.

The author of the best-selling “The Fly Who Flew to Space” children’s book has three children. Sánchez and Whitesell share a daughter and a son. She has a son with ex-NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez as well.

Sánchez’s dating history also includes an engagement to another NFL player. Five-time Pro Browler Anthony Miller claimed Lauren stepped out on him when they were together in the 1990s.

“I couldn’t really trust her. She gets around. She was cheating on me with other guys,” Miller said about his ex-fiancée, Sánchez, in a 2019 interview with the Daily Mail.

Miller and Sánchez initially crossed paths around Super Bowl XXX in 1996. The Denver Broncos wide receiver and the media personality were reportedly engaged for one year of their four-year relationship.

As their partnership fell apart, fingers were pointed at Miller over allegations that he was the unfaithful individual. The now-60-year-old retired professional athlete insisted Sánchez was the disloyal one.

“That’s just a lie. I’m not the one who was cheating,” Miller contended in response to being accused of breaking Sánchez’s trust. “I found out when I looked in her diary, and I found out more after I broke up with her.”

‘Why Did You Come to This School?’: Lawsuit Says Chicago School Let 10-Year-Old Black Girl Be Called the N‑Word, Punched, and Threatened Daily—Then Blamed Her for the Disruption

Mon, 07/21/2025 - 15:59

A Chicago mother alleges in a lawsuit that her daughter’s public school system knew about repeated racist abuse and sexual misconduct that her child suffered at her elementary school and did nothing to stop it.

Sher’Ron Hinton says her now-13-year-old daughter was one of the only Black students in her grades when she attended Wildwood Elementary School on the northwest side of Chicago, which serves children in kindergarten through the eighth grade.

She was 10 when the abuse first started in 2022 during her fifth grade year, according to the lawsuit cited by local news outlets.

The complaint states that she was subjected to an “escalating campaign of race-based verbal, sexual, and physical harassment by Wildwood students,” and that the misconduct “was reported to, or actually known by Wildwood personnel.”

The child was allegedly body shamed, called the N-word, and told to harm herself in some instances.

The suit recounted an incident in November 2022 when she wrote “I feel like I’m going to die” on a classroom worksheet, prompting school staff to conduct a suicide ideation assessment. Later that month, she wrote “I want to die” on a different class exercise.

In December, a student hit and touched her inappropriately. The school implemented a safety plan after the incident, but never fully informed her mother, the suit states. Hinton was only told that her daughter would be under a daily check-in routine to ensure a “normal friend dynamic.”

Shortly after, Hinton’s daughter was allegedly struck again by a student who told her, “I’m always trying to kill you.” When the child informed staff, she was reprimanded for “always causing drama,” the complaint states.

Hinton met with school staffers who allegedly minimized the harassment to “friendship issues” and “exaggerations.”

The child also allegedly faced retaliation from her peers after she reported some students who had all received in-school suspensions for calling her the N-word in 2024.

Two physical education teachers are also named in the complaint. One is accused of rubbing his genitals against her back, and the other allegedly hit her with a clipboard or a rolled-up paper.

The lawsuit states that the harassment lasted two years, until the girl’s seventh grade year, and became so extreme that she had to be hospitalized after her mental health continued to deteriorate.

“She was subjected to extreme bullying by other students, including calling her fat, ugly, a whore [and], ‘why did you come to this school? I’m trying to kill you. You’re shaped like an egg, shaped like a football.’ And all of this was done because she was Black,” said Hinton’s attorney, Jamaal Buchanan, adding that the girl was the only Black student in her fifth grade through seventh grade classes.

A lengthy report from the Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ Chicago cited Chicago Public School records that showed that Hinton’s daughter was the subject of relentless bullying from students, and how the administrators failed to quash it.

Documents reveal there were times the school didn’t notify Hinton about the misconduct, and either made her daughter sit down with her bullies or downplayed the severity of the bullying.

“My daughter didn’t just fall through the cracks, she was placed in them,” mother Sher’Ron Hinton said.

Earlier this year, Hinton’s daughter left school to undergo intensive mental health treatment after being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

“I don’t know my feelings anymore,” the girl told the Sun-Times in March. “I’m not happy, but I’m not sad. I’m not depressed, but I’m not joyful. I don’t know what I am. Like, everything sucks.”

Chicago Public Schools, the Wildwood principal, the assistant principal, and the two PE teachers are named defendants in the suit.

The complaint seeks at least $50,000 in monetary damages as well as “systemic changes,” including a requirement that parents are informed whenever school staff conduct a suicide assessment and the establishment of a separate office to investigate reports of extreme bullying.

‘Snatch That Body Back’: Lela Rochon’s Shocking Transformation Stuns the Internet In New Photos as Fans Zoom In on Her Slimmer Waist

Mon, 07/21/2025 - 15:39

“Waiting to Exhale” star Lela Rochon has never been one to shy away from reinvention, and at 61, the beloved actress is proving that transformation comes on her own terms.

The movie star who captivated audiences in fellow ’90s classics like “Boomerang” and “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” is making headlines again. Not for past glory, but for her inspiring wellness journey and triumphant return as she flaunts her new body on social media.

Lela Rochon flaunted her 30-pound weight loss in stunning photos at Louis Vuitton’s NYC flagship store, earning praise from fans who celebrated her transformation at 60.(Photo: @iamlelarochon/Instagram)

The results of Rochon’s dedication are undeniable, and fans have been quick to celebrate her transformation.

When she recently posted photos from a Louis Vuitton flagship store visit in New York City on June 27, standing confidently in front of five designer traveling chests at the renovated location on East 57th Street, the response was overwhelmingly positive.

“You Go Girl! Snatch that body back! Looking great,” one enthusiastic supporter commented.

The praise continued with messages like “Hello girl, you look beautiful, God bless,” and “Looking much better.”

Other fans chimed in with “You are still beautiful as ever & don’t let nobody tell you otherwise” and “Sunshine!!!! Still looking good!”

For years, online conversations about Rochon’s weight gain had been unnecessarily cruel, with many attributing her physical changes to the stress of her marriage to “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua.

The couple, who married in 1999 and share two children, faced public scrutiny when a viral photo surfaced in 2019 showing Fuqua kissing Nicole Murphy, Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife. The incident sparked widespread speculation and commentary that unfairly linked Rochon’s appearance to her husband’s alleged infidelity, ignoring the very real health challenges she was facing.

The cruelty of such commentary didn’t go unnoticed by more thoughtful observers. Critics rightfully pointed out the problematic nature of connecting a woman’s weight to her partner’s behavior, especially when serious health conditions like lupus were involved. Despite the noise, Rochon remained focused on her own journey, prioritizing her well-being over public opinion.

Let's keep it real simple. Lela Rochon gained weight, she could have been a binge or stress eater. To the fuck ass who feels that if woman gains weight the man has a right to cheat. Let's see yo goofy ass mama for taking yo trash ass daddy back. pic.twitter.com/IX4U8bXutR

— Big Poppa Beemo (@Beem0_dont_surf) July 26, 2019

Recently, Rochon addressed the criticism about her weight on “The Sherri Show,” saying, “All y’all that be saying ‘She don’t look the same,’ don’t expect me to look the same. It’s been 30 years.”

The actress’s recent renaissance has been particularly evident as she stepped into her seventh decade with unprecedented confidence.

When she celebrated her 60th birthday earlier this year, she shared a video of herself dancing in leather to Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” hit “Texas Hold ‘Em,” showcasing not just her physical transformation but her renewed zest for life. The post generated an outpouring of love from fans and fellow celebrities alike, with supporters offering messages of encouragement and admiration that highlighted the genuine affection her fans continue to hold for her.

Rochon’s transformation coincides perfectly with her professional comeback.

As the newest cast member on BET’s “The Family Business: New Orleans,” she’s reminding audiences why she was once Hollywood’s most sought-after leading lady.

Her return also opened doors for a meaningful reunion with “Waiting to Exhale” author Terry McMillan and co-star Loretta Devine for “Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted By Love,” executive produced by Garcelle Beauvais and premiering on Lifetime.

Reflecting on her journey, Rochon has been candid about the choices that led her away from Hollywood’s spotlight. After marrying Fuqua and starting a family, she made the conscious decision to prioritize motherhood over career advancement.

“I struggled to get pregnant, I struggled to carry a baby, so once that happened, I didn’t want to miss anything,” she explained to Essence in March, referring to her children Asia and Brando, now college students at USC.

The decision to step back wasn’t without professional costs, as Rochon has acknowledged passing on significant opportunities, including roles in “The Help” and “The Matrix.”

However, she maintains no regrets about prioritizing her family during those crucial years. Now, with her children grown and her health restored, she’s ready to reclaim her place in the entertainment industry.

‘Fundamental Lapse of Compassion’: Outrage Over Cop Who Killed Sleeping Black Man in No-Knock Raid Now Teaching Others When to Pull the Trigger

Sun, 07/20/2025 - 18:00

The Minneapolis cop who fatally shot an unarmed Black man sleeping on his cousin’s couch during a no-knock police raid is now heading up the department’s use-of-force training program, leading to questions about how serious the city really is about reform after the police murder of George Floyd.

Amir Locke, who was not a suspect, was fatally shot by Sgt. Mark Hanneman within 9 seconds of a SWAT team entering into the apartment in February 2022, according to bodycam video, which also shows that, while Locke had a gun in his hand under his blanket, it was pointed at the ground and his finger was not on the trigger, according to KSTP-TV.

Police were executing a no-knock warrant as part of a homicide investigation in neighboring St. Paul. The warrant was tied to Locke’s cousin, who lived in the apartment. Locke himself wasn’t named in the warrant, wasn’t a suspect, and had no criminal record. He was staying there temporarily and reportedly working as a DoorDash driver.

The officers used a key to enter, did not announce themselves until they were already inside, and encountered Locke waking up from sleep on the couch, wrapped in a blanket with his legally owned handgun nearby.

Minnesota Public Radio reported Police Chief Brian O’Hara defended Hanneman’s promotion — which MPR reports came seven months after the officer killed Locke — saying in part he’s been with the force almost a decade and is an “outstanding” trainer committed to bringing positive change to MPD.

But critics say it was the wrong move if the department is committed to reform. Locke’s mother called it a slap in the face.

“If Hanneman is one of the best officers to become a training officer, why is my son Amir Locke not here?” said Locke’s mother, Karen Wells, according to MPR. “They show they don’t care. They show that this is our culture.”

Hanneman did not face any charges in Locke’s death. Prosecutors said at the time there was “insufficient admissible evidence to file criminal charges.”

“With all the available evidence, we would not be able to prove in court that Officer Hanneman’s use of force was not authorized under the law beyond a reasonable doubt,” Attorney General Keith Ellison said at the time.

Officials pointed to a state statute that gives law enforcement great discretion to use deadly force if they feel threatened.

Prosecutors released a statement from Hanneman after Locke’s death. “In this moment, I feared for my life and the lives of my teammates. I felt it in the moment, if I did not use deadly force myself, I would likely be killed. There was no opportunity for me to reposition myself or retreat. There was no way for me to de-escalate the situation,” he said.

“We’re highly against him being one of the top officers that should be training other officers,” Wells told news outlets. “It was actually as if I’m dealing with a wound that will never heal, and it’s like you’re just making the wound get bigger and bigger.”

In a statement to KSTP, O’Hara said he “understands the concerns,” but added Hanneman’s involvement will advance cultural change within the department.

The city’s Office of Community Safety sent out another statement from O’Hara Wednesday, saying he remains “deeply mindful of the pain Amir Locke’s death caused his family, loved ones, and the community, as well as the profound effect on the officers involved.”

He called it a “complex issue” and noted that the “community is still hurting.”

“We continue to try and build a path forward. It is difficult,” he said.

O’Hara said Hanneman was promoted before his arrival and that after an investigation, he approved of the promotion.

“All of the feedback that I have received, both internally and externally, has been consistent – his performance has been exceptional, he has proven to be deeply committed to the reform process, and our officers see him as a credible messenger about why this department must change,” O’Hara continued.

Plenty of people, in addition to Locke’s family, are upset with the decision.

“With no explanation as to why, Frey (Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey) and O’Hara selected an officer who killed a resident to lead use-of-force trainings. This is not transparency and it’s not how you restore trust with communities brutalized by police violence,” an X user warned.

“Police Chief Brian O’Hara defended the decision to make Sgt. Mark Hanneman the head cop in charge of teaching other cops when, where and how to use force, claiming he’s an ‘outstanding’ trainer committed to bringing positive change to MPD,” another posted.

Omar Fateh wrote this on X: “Sgt. Hanneman shot and killed Amir Locke within 9 seconds of busting down his front door. Choosing him as the Minneapolis Police Department’s trainer is a betrayal of the very communities Mayor Frey and the MPD say they want to build trust with.”

“This is a fundamental lapse of compassion and care from this administration. No matter how good a trainer this man is, telling a Black family that the man who killed their son is now training other officers on use of force is just deeply thoughtless,” said Rev. DeWayne Davis.

The Locke family is suing the city of Minneapolis, accusing the police department of violating Amir Locke’s civil rights.

‘Police Didn’t React to Us’: Black Woman Says White Neighbors Attacked Her in Front of Toddler; Video Shows Vile Couple Throw Stroller Down Stairs Yelling Racial Slurs at Mother and Child

Sun, 07/20/2025 - 17:00

A Black woman’s move to Russia to try to flee racism in the U.S. was completely marred by a violent, racist attack that she says was committed by her white neighbors.

Francine Villa was featured in the 2020 documentary “Black in the USSR,” which aired on the Russian State Media channel, RT.

She said she didn’t just move to Russia on a whim — she has familial ties there.

Francine Villa says she was attacked by her neighbors. (Photos: Instagram/msfancy_007)

Her great-grandfather moved from Virginia to work as an agriculturist in the country in the 1930s, and her family has lived there ever since.

She was born there, but at a young age, her mother moved her to the United States.

After spending most of her life in America, she said her life changed when she experienced a traumatizing encounter with police after approaching them for help, only for them to dismiss her plea and assault her.

She said the incident prompted her decision to move back to her home country, believing that she could escape the discrimination in the States and start anew.

After a year of living in Moscow, she initially celebrated her relocation, telling RT, “I feel free living in Russia, because in Russia, no matter what time it is, I can walk outside and I’m safe.”

But five years later, Villa’s dream turned on its head.

She took to Instagram, still bloodied from an assault, saying her neighbors attacked her and called her racial slurs while she was with her 2-year-old child.

She interlaced her video with footage from the attack, showing the neighbors as they verbally accosted her.

Her two alleged assailants, a white man and woman, reportedly blocked the entrance to her apartment, threatened to toss out her belongings, and cut off electricity to the unit. Villa said they even threw her baby’s stroller down the steps.

She overlaid text onto the video that said that she and her toddler both have bruises.

Villa said that she’s taken the matter to the police, who have done nothing so far to address it, according to the New York Post.

“We cannot be silent when a mother and her baby suffer because of intolerance,” one Russian viewer wrote. “Russia is a multinational country. Protecting citizens is the state’s duty.”

“It’s monstrous. If the legal authorities don’t do anything, many people will be deeply disappointed,” an Instagram user commented.

Several other viewers questioned Villa’s decision to move to Russia, noting the irony of trying to escape racism and discrimination in one majority-white country only to encounter it in another.

“If you find one predominantly white country to be racist, then why move to another that’s even more solidly white? And I’d expect an American of any race to not to be treated all that well in Russia,” one X user commented.

‘He’s So Proud of Himself’: Outrage Erupts After Trump Supporter Claims He Snitched on Viral Influencer Khaby Lame to ICE

Sun, 07/20/2025 - 16:33

The internet erupted in fury this week as a young Trump supporter continued to publicly brag about his role in getting one of the world’s most beloved social media personalities detained by immigration authorities. The controversy has ignited fierce debate about privilege and accountability.

Khabane ‘Khaby’ Lame, the 25-year-old Senegalese-Italian influencer whose real name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport on June 6 for allegedly overstaying his visa, according to NPR.

Having legally entered on April 30, Lame had attended the Met Gala weeks before his detention. ICE officials confirmed that while Lame entered legally, he remained beyond his visa terms. He was granted voluntary departure and left the same day, avoiding a deportation order that could have barred his return for up to a decade.

The story took a shocking turn when 18-year-old Bo Loudon stepped forward to claim credit for Lame’s detention in a recent video circulating online.

Meet far-left TikTok star "Khaby Lame."

He's an ILLEGAL ALIEN!

I've been working with the patriots at President Trump's DHS to make this happen.

He was just ARRESTED in Vegas and is in ICE CUSTODY!

— Bo Loudon (@BoLoudon) June 7, 2025

Loudon, said to be the “best friend” of President Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, appeared on Sean Kelly’s Digital Hour podcast and detailed his involvement, repeating details he revealed in early June.

“Yes, I had some buddies who work closely with him on several major contracts and things. They were all telling me that there’s several red flags with this guy. He admitted that he was in the country illegally, on an expired visa, and entered the country like 49 times. So I just flagged it to a buddy of mine and the administration at Homeland Security,” Loudon explained.

Bo Loudon, son of conservative commentator Gina Loudon and former Missouri Sen. John Loudon, has built a major social media presence with over 200,000 followers on X and 350,000 on Instagram.

Vanity Fair reported that he leveraged his Trump family ties to influence young male voters during the 2024 campaign.

Loudon boasted about the government’s response speed after his tip.

“I just called some buddies in the administration, and I’ve never seen anything happen so quick,” he recalled. “They were like, ‘We’re gonna get right on this.'” He had also posted on social media that he had been “working with the patriots at President Trump’s DHS to make this happen.”

The revelation triggered swift backlash, with critics slamming it as mockery of someone’s immigration status.

D.L. Hughley didn’t hold back, posting a clip from the interview and writing, “YOU’RE LAME AF!! HE WAS BORN WITH THAT NAME… YOU FKN EARNED IT!!! CORNY AF!!” on social media, echoing widespread outrage.

“Take note of who is doing what to who,” one social media user wrote in response to the revelation.

Others didn’t hold back in their assessment of Loudon’s character.

“Damn, I’ve seen it all. An ICE Karen,” another user commented.

Some pointed to deeper issues of privilege, with one person observing, “No one is surprised that this guy did this he has the complexion for the protection.”

Another said, “The way he’s so proud of himself Nobody will remember you dude.”

Perhaps most telling was the comparison one user drew, writing that “He’s giving Kyle Rittenhouse vibes,” referencing the controversial figure who became a polarizing symbol during the 2020 protests as right-wingers embraced him following his fatal shootings of two men at a Black Lives Matter protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The target of this controversy, Lame, had risen to become the silent TikTok king whose wordless reactions to absurd life hacks captivated over 162 million followers worldwide. His meteoric rise from pandemic content to becoming the most-followed TikTok personality made him a beloved figure across cultural barriers.

His final post before disappearing was on June 3, three days before his detention. The video showed his signature style, humorously subverting a viral trend where students threw phones into buckets by instead tossing just the phone case, captioned “Sorry teacher, I am never going to bring my phone to school again” with the hashtag, #learnfromkhaby.

After 11 days of silence that left his massive fan base wondering about his whereabouts, Lame returned to Instagram with a lighthearted soccer video featuring Brazilian footballer Neymar.

“Yes, it was a good dream… I dribbled Neymar. Then I woke up and he told me, ‘Go get me some water,'” he posted, attempting to return to normalcy.

The incident has raised broader questions about immigration enforcement, social media influence, and real-world consequences of online actions.

For Lame, whose estimated net worth is said to be $40 million, the detention highlights vulnerability that successful content creators face when circumstances become political talking points. The controversy highlights growing tensions on social media, where influence, race, and access to power are often weaponized — with real-world consequences.

‘It’s Mind-Boggling’: State Trooper Called In K-9 Units, Helicopters, Officers with Rifles Just Because He Thought a Teenager Played ‘Ding-Dong Ditch’ at His Home, Families’ Lawsuit Says

Sun, 07/20/2025 - 14:40

A Delaware state trooper who was fired and jailed for violently assaulting two teenagers after learning one of them played a game of “ding-dong ditch” at his house is now facing a lawsuit from the boys’ families.

The lawsuit comes one year after Dempsey Walters pleaded guilty to assault and deprivation of civil rights, both felony charges. He also pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of assault in the third degree and two misdemeanor counts of official misconduct in connection with the incident in August 2023.

According to a grand jury indictment, Walters spotted one teenage boy in his neighborhood on Aug. 17, 2023, and launched a verbal altercation after believing the boy was engaging in misconduct. He and local police took the boy home. The teen was not arrested or charged.

Video screenshot captures former Delaware Trooper Dempsey Walters violently arresting a teen. (Photo: YouTube screenshot/Delaware DOJ)

After that incident, officials say that Walters searched the teen’s background in a law enforcement database.

Three days after the altercation, a different teenage boy was walking in Walters’ neighborhood with three of his friends and decided to play “ding-dong ditch.” Ring doorbell footage shows the 15-year-old boy running up to the front door of Walters’ home, kicking it, and running away.

Walters’ girlfriend, who was at home at the time, called Walters and told him about the prank.

Walters, who was on duty, immediately headed home and called state troopers and officers from other law enforcement agencies for help.

Believing that the first teen he encountered in his neighborhood on Aug. 17 may have been involved, he looked up the boy’s address and went to his home, according to the indictment.

When the teen came to the front door, Walters “forcibly pulled” him out of the home and “forced him to the ground, causing injuries,” the indictment states. Walters cuffed the teen and detained him in the back of a police vehicle. The teen was later released without charges.

After detaining the first teen, Walters was contacted by a state trooper who located and detained the 15-year-old who kicked Walters’ door. Walters immediately headed to the scene.

Dashcam video shows the moments a trooper caught up with the teen and his friends. He’s seen ordering the boys to the ground, then pushing the 15-year-old to the ground as the boy screams, and swearing at him repeatedly.

When Walters arrived at the scene, he saw the teen “face-down on the ground” and the trooper struggling to cuff his hands behind his back, the indictment states.

Almost immediately after arriving, Walters is seen running over and placing his knee on the back of the teen’s head and neck, causing him to cry out in distress.

After the boy was cuffed and placed in the back of a trooper’s cruiser, Walters “turned off his body-worn camera and walked to the police vehicle,” the indictment states.

While the teen was seated in the vehicle with his hands cuffed behind his back, Walters struck the boy “in the right side of his face, causing an orbital fracture,” which broke his eye socket.

However, the punch had been recorded since Delaware law enforcement body-worn cameras capture 30 seconds of buffer video, without audio, when they are deactivated.

After reviewing the bodycam footage, state police contacted the state attorney general’s office.

Walters was immediately suspended from his job. A month later, he was indicted. After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to one year in jail and four years of probation.

“The Defendant’s rampage against two kids, and his subsequent attempt to conceal his misconduct, was brutal, dishonest, and unacceptable. It was a flagrant and felonious violation of his oath and an insult to his fellow officers,” Delaware Attorney General Kathleen Jennings said in a statement.

The boys’ families filed a complaint naming Walters, several officers, and four police agencies as defendants, alleging excessive force, assault, battery, and civil rights violations, among other counts.

The suit states that the 15-year-old suffered orbital fracture, severe brain trauma and other injuries. It alleges that Walters called in K-9 units, helicopters, and officers armed with assault weapons in a gross misuse of power.

“We don’t know whether he amplified it, whether he ramped it up, or whether he was reporting what his girlfriend told him happened. We suspect that he took this to the next level. In any event, it’s the next step that is just confounding us. How could he call in helicopters, K-9 squad, long armed officers. It’s, it’s mind-boggling,” said Sam Davis, an attorney for the families.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory and punitive damages.

‘It’s Embarrassing:’ CNN’s Abby Phillip Shuts Down MAGA Panelist Scott Jennings As He Tries to Spin Trump’s Latest Controversial Bombshell

Sat, 07/19/2025 - 15:01

The Wall Street Journal report on President Donald Trump’s relationship with convicted child sex trafficker and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein is being called “a dud” by one conservative talk show pundit.

Abby Phillip, the anchor of CNN NewsNight, told analyst Scott Jennings on Thursday night’s show that the story was not “a dud” because Trump is “clearly very pissed off about this.”

He’s so upset about the report on his friendship and ties to Epstein, he’s even suing the Journal over it. The news site reported that Epstein’s friends sent him racy letters for his 50th birthday, including one from Trump. The letters were put together in a leather-bound book by convicted sex offender and Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, according to the Journal.

The purported Trump letter had a drawing of a naked woman on it.

Trump is furious over the report, calling the letter “a fake thing.”

Then, Thursday night, an enraged Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, ranting about the story, insisting that it’s “false, malicious, and defamatory” and threatening to sue the newspaper, a threat he followed through on by the next day.

“The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued,” the President warned.

He continued his tirade, calling the Journal “a ‘Disgusting and Filthy Rag’” and accusing it of “writing defamatory lies.”

On her show, Phillip acknowledged Trump’s denial but told Jennings the real question is whether the letter is authentic.

“And it seems that the Journal has evidence that it does, in fact, exist and that it’s perhaps among the many, many, many documents that are in the possession of investigators here,” she said.

Jennings responded that it’s common knowledge that Trump and Epstein knew each other. “We also know he disowned him and kicked him out of his club. I was waiting all day long for this rumoring of a bombshell,” he said, adding, “This looks like kind of a dud to me.”

He continued saying Republicans will “strongly rally around the President” because “this is the sort of stuff that brings people to circle the wagons around him.”

Phillip wasn’t buying it. “Just to be clear, Trump doesn’t agree with you because he’s clearly very pissed off about this, perhaps very freaked out about it because it’s embarrassing.”

And social media has gone wild over the story. As expected, MAGA world is denying that the letter is real.

“Why didn’t it show up when Trump first came down the elevator, or in 2020, or 2024. Because it’s fake,” an X user stated.

The WSJ want us to believe, that Trump typed a birthday letter to Epstein in 2003, and then Trump hand drew a naked woman around the letter…

And that this was never leaked over the last 22 years. It magically showed up today…

And we are not allowed to see the letter… pic.twitter.com/xb1c5uFaYl

‘He Wants a Young Chick’: Kevin Costner’s Inner Circle Reportedly Pushing the Actor to Date Women Half His Age

Sat, 07/19/2025 - 14:11

Kevin Costner is maneuvering through the ups and downs of dating after his divorce, with sources saying his close circle is actively setting him up following his split.

The 70-year-old “Yellowstone” star has been thrust into the spotlight not just for his acting prowess but for his romantic prospects following his contentious split from Christine Baumgartner, which was finalized in February 2024 after 18 years of marriage.

After Christine began dating a family friend closely associated with Costner and their children, many have wondered if Costner is on the hunt for her replacement.

The latest chapter in Costner’s dating saga centers around “Mad Men” actress January Jones, 47, who caught the actor’s attention at a recent Hollywood party, a new report claims.

According to purported insiders who spoke with the National Examiner, Kevin Costner and the blond beauty best known for playing Betty Draper had chemistry that couldn’t be missed.

Alleged witnesses say the actor was “flirting up a storm” and clearly taken by her. The connection was reportedly strong enough for them to exchange numbers, but the tabloid claims its supposed sources say Costner may have to work through some post-divorce hesitation before taking things any further.

However, Y! Entertainment readers have been quick to voice their skepticism about the potential pairing.

“He’s sooo old, in his 70s!! And he wants a young chickie who will want a kid for security,” one person commented, while another questioned the logic entirely, “She’s 47 and he’s 70. Why would she even consider this? What would be the upside for her when she can have any guy she wants? It’ll never happen.”

The sentiment was echoed by another fan who bluntly stated, “January Jones is so out of his old league.”

The potential romance comes at a time when Costner’s personal life has been under intense scrutiny.

Costner’s camp is catching heat after insiders accused the actor’s inner circle of meddling in his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner’s new relationship with financier Josh Connor, just one year after the ink dried on their divorce deal. The two were first linked in July 2023, months after she filed for divorce from Costner, and revealed their engagement in January 2025.

According to the Daily Mail, sources claim the “Hidden Figures” star’s close friends have iced out both Christine, 51, and her new man.

“Kevin’s true friends immediately cut off Christine and Josh and would never attend their wedding, even if invited,” their insider alleged. “Their loyalty to Kevin is solid.”

Baumgartner walked away from the high-profile split with $1.6 million and $63,000 a month in child support — far less than the $175,000 monthly payments she initially pushed for. The former couple shares three children: sons Cayden, 18, Hayes, 16, and daughter Grace, 15.

The situation has been further complicated by reports of Costner’s failed romantic ventures since becoming single.

RadarOnline’s own unnamed “sources” suggest the actor had “high hopes of settling down” with the Grammy-nominated singer, Jewel, after they were spotted together at Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island fundraiser. However, Costner himself shut down those rumors, telling Howard Stern that he and Jewel were merely friends who had “never gone out ever.”

Despite his denials, the tabloid reported those supposed insiders paint a different picture, claiming Jewel felt “ghosted” by Costner and was “heartbroken” when their connection failed to develop.

“She thought it was something real. He thought it was something vague,” the alleged source revealed, adding that “she doesn’t chase, especially not cowboys with commitment issues.”

Now, Costner’s circle reportedly urging him to pursue Jones as a partner, some on social media remain unconvinced.

“But DON’T get married anymore!!!” advised one commenter, perhaps reflecting the sentiment that Costner should focus on his well-being rather than rushing into another relationship.

The January Jones connection appears to be more promising than his previous attempts at romance. The actress, a single mother herself, reportedly gushed about meeting Costner at a December event, posting on Instagram: “Beautiful evening… and I finally got to meet @kevincostner.”

Insiders allegedly indicated that she’s been letting mutual friends know she’s interested, putting “the ball in Kevin’s court.”

As Costner continues to navigate his new bachelor status, the question remains whether he’ll heed his inner circle’s encouragement or listen to the cautionary voices of fans who worry he’s not ready for the emotional investment a serious relationship requires.

‘Who Signed Off on This In the First Place’: Tina Turner Wig Gets Removed from Her Site as Backlash Erupts Online

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 23:09

Tina Turner’s estate thought they had found the perfect way to honor the late Queen of Rock and Roll’s legendary style, but fans had a very different reaction when a $1,000 wig hit the market this week, claiming to capture her iconic look.

Within hours of its debut on Turner’s official website, the controversial hairpiece became the target of relentless online mockery, forcing BMG, the custodians of the star’s image and likeness, to hastily remove it from all platforms amid a firestorm of criticism that left admirers questioning whether anyone truly understood what made their beloved icon so special.

Tina Turner’s estate quickly pulled a $1,000 wig from her website after fans mocked it mercilessly online, saying it looked nothing like the rock icon’s legendary hairstyle. (Photo: Tina Turner/ @Facebook)

The controversy began when Turner’s official website quietly launched a hair unit purportedly inspired by the icon’s signature style.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the person who created the wig was Arthur Johns, Turner’s longtime hairstylist. The piece was marketed as an authentic tribute to the performer’s look, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity and a premium price tag of $933.46. Made from 100 percent Remy human hair, the wig was positioned as a collector’s item for devoted fans seeking to channel Turner’s iconic energy.

Instead of celebration, the launch triggered an immediate backlash that spread across social media like wildfire, with multiple commenters noting the wig’s resemblance to Olivia Newton-John’s curly transformation from good girl to bad girl in “Grease.”

As one comment from social media captured the prevailing sentiment: “I thought this was announcing a Grease remake. Also Tina would NEVA!!!”

The negative response was so overwhelming that Turner’s estate pulled the product from all platforms within 24 hours, leaving behind only screenshots and incredulous social media posts.

Johns, who first worked with Turner in 1980 on an Olivia Newton-John TV special, is defending his work after facing a wave of negative feedback.

The hairstylist emphasized that the wig was a true representation of styles he had created for Turner in the 1990s and early 2000s.

He explained that fans rarely saw how Turner’s hair evolved during the heat of her performances, making it difficult to fully understand this new look. Johns has maintained that his creation was in line with what Turner had worn on stage during those years.

“Tina wore that hair,” Johns explained. “If you do your research, you’ll see that curl was very popular in the ’90s and through the early 2000s.”

Adding, “What you don’t see is Tina onstage after 25 minutes, working that hair, throwing her body around and having that hair blow up and just become wild. But that was the hair, that was the hairstyle, and that was the curl on the color that went with that.”

The online mockery continued to intensify as Hollywood Reporter followers questioned whether the tribute truly honored Turner’s memory.

A post shared by Hollywood Reporter (@hollywoodreporter)

“I think the question we’re asking is: ‘What’s hair got to do with it?'” one clever commenter wrote, playfully referencing the singer’s Grammy-winning anthem.

Another bluntly asked, “I mean who signed off on this in the first place.”

The criticism took on an even sharper edge with another user’s assessment: “She is definitely rolling in her grave! Please!”

Meanwhile, others resorted to contemporary internet humor, with one person dubbing the creation “Temu Turner,” jokingly nodding to the popular discount shopping platform.

The wig debacle stands in striking opposition to Turner’s actual relationship with her hair styling.

Those who worked closely with the performer knew she was intensely hands-on with her appearance, personally sewing and dyeing her own wigs because, as tour stylist Wayne Lukas revealed, “she said nobody did it well,” People magazine reported.

During her career, the “Proud Mary” singer kept an arsenal of 50 wigs during tours, each one meticulously maintained according to her exacting standards. Her perfectionism extended to every detail of her appearance, from the precise length of her dresses to the way garments moved with her dynamic choreography.

She was extremely meticulous about her image, and that precision extended to how she wanted to be portrayed on screen. At first, she was uncertain anyone could truly embody her essence. Fortunately, she was satisfied with Angela Bassett’s performance as the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Turner’s commitment to authenticity in her image makes the recent controversy particularly poignant.

She understood that her look wasn’t just about fashion — it was about embodying the fierce independence and raw power that defined her music. When she told Johns in 1980, “I’m not soul. I’m rock and roll — and I want my hair to fly,” she was articulating a vision that went far beyond mere styling.

The quick removal of the wig suggests that BMG, which controls Tina Turner’s image rights, realized the mistake right away. The controversy is a powerful reminder that Turner’s legacy—like her iconic hair—was unmatched because it was authentic and unapologetically hers.

And her fans won’t let anyone—not even her estate—mess with that.

‘Bull– Barbie Dodging Questions Again’: Karoline Leavitt Resorts to Belitting a Reporter As She Struggles to Defend Blatant Lie Trump Told This Week About His Family’s Connection to Notorious Terrorist

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 21:18

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt belittled a reporter during a July 17 press briefing as she struggled to defend a blatant lie President Donald Trump told at an event in Pennsylvania two days earlier.

In fact, she wasn’t able to, so she basically ignored the question.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt speaks during the daily press briefing at the White House on March 11, 2025, in Washington, DC. Leavitt discussed deportations, the economy, Canada, and other topics. (Photo by Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

Here’s what happened. Trump spoke at the “Inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Event” at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh on July 15, where he told a weird tale about late terrorist Theodore “Ted” Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, and his uncle John Trump, a professor of engineering at the distinguished Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT.

Before launching into the bizarre story about his uncle, who died in 1985, and the Unabomber, Trump said he had “to brag just for a second” about his uncle’s intelligence, according to CNN. He called John Trump “the longest-serving professor in the history of MIT,” but he wasn’t.

Reporter: Ted was not identified as the Unabomber until 11 years after John trump passed away. It would be impossible for John Trump to ever discuss the Unabomber with the president.

Leavitt: The president's uncle did teach at MIT. pic.twitter.com/Ubt173nat7

— Acyn (@Acyn) July 17, 2025

He also got his uncle’s degrees wrong, saying they were “in nuclear, chemical, and math,” but they weren’t. Two were in electrical engineering, and the other was in physics. And then he claimed Kaczynski was one of his students.

“‘I said, ‘What kind of a student was he, Uncle John?’ Dr. John Trump. I said, ‘What kind of a student?’ And then he said, ‘Seriously, good.’ He said, ‘He’d correct – he’d go around correcting everybody.’ But it didn’t work out too well for him.”

Kaczynski made bombs and delivered them to random targets over a 17-year period starting in 1978 until he was caught in 1996. During that time, he terrorized Americans, killed three people and injured many more.

So, was the president having a mental lapse or an impaired cognitive moment? Because the story is completely false. John Trump died more than a decade before Kaczynski was caught, and Kaczynski was never a student at MIT.

And that’s why a reporter for The Independent, Andrew Feinberg, asked about Trump’s strange tale at Thursday’s White House press briefing, pointing out the very discrepancies just mentioned.

Maybe Leavitt was trying to buy time initially as she danced around the question.

“Andrew, with so many issues going on in the world, I’m a little bit surprised you would ask such a question, although I’m not, sometimes coming from you, I will say, but I’m willing to give you an answer, nevertheless,” she lectured him.

She ignored his question because, after all, it’s a bit difficult to explain Trump’s frequent falsehoods and embellishments.

The president’s uncle did, in fact, teach at MIT. He was a very intelligent professor. The president’s very proud of his family. In fact, the president has a letter from his uncle on the MIT letterhead that sits in the Oval Office dining room,” Leavitt continued.

“Maybe he will let you see it sometime,” she taunted.

Critics called Leavitt for deflecting and avoiding answering the question.

“Bullshit Barbie dodging questions again,” one critic wrote on X. “Karoline just dismisses the question on how the timeline doesn’t match up w/Ted attending MIT that trumps uncle was a professor at. Not to mention Ted and attended Harvard so that in itself is a question markNo one was disputing that his uncle was a professor at MIT,” another person wrote.

‘Is There No Shame?’: Ice T’s Wife Coco Austin Refuses to Give Up Her Bikini Pics After Getting Trashed Online, Claims She’s Paved the Way for Girls Online Today

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 20:14

Coco Austin has dressed provocatively in skimpy and tight clothes for decades by now. Having a sexy appearance has been part of Austin’s brand as a model, but some fans still attempt to shun her for it. Unfortunately for the critics, they are wasting their time, because Austin plans to keep up her seductive look for as long as possible.

Austin began modeling as a teenager, but her career skyrocketed when she was featured on the cover of Swimwear Illustrated at just 18 years old in 1997. Around that time she began to shape her image by dyeing her hair from dark brown to her longtime blond signature color. And she also got breast implants at that age.

The California native, now at the age of 46, the mother of one told the “Shoes Off Talk Podcast” on July 17 that she has no regrets about how she presents herself to the world and even claims to have paved the way for today’s online models.

Austin sat alongside her longtime husband and father of her child, Ice T, as they shared their stories with podcast hosts Tim McAFee and Austin’s younger sister, Kristy Austin.

During their conversation, she was reflecting on the early stages of her career when she was on magazine covers, including swimsuit magazines. She said she knows that she was on the front of at least 50 covers but stopped counting after that and dubbed it “a moment in time” now that magazines aren’t as popular in today’s digital world.

Austin went on to discuss why she believes she was a pioneer for the women who post pictures online today.

She said, “I think I’ve paved the way and I’m very proud of this and I could say I’ve paved the way. During that time, Jennifer Lopez was just coming out. Like, she wasn’t even like that big. There was no Kardashian. This was pre Kardashian.”

How's these for Throwbacks! Me at 15!! Back in 94' I loved my long dark hair.. Back then I entered and won a hair contest and got free hair products for a year.. I was so proud..lol

Model Cindy Margolis was the “it girl” at the time, according to Austin and she followed in Margolis’ footsteps to get a website and post pictures online in what was still the early days of the internet.

Listing her other accolades she said, “I had calendars. I had DVDs. I was like on a roll. And, you know, to buy a house from calendars. Just think about that.”

Ice-T cut in, explaining that once he met Austin, she was already in her modeling era and he wasn’t looking to change anything about her. In fact, he only wanted to help her “maximize” her career and income. He said he told her that someday her modeling career would come to an end and when that happened she wants to make sure she is set up financially.

At this point of the conversation, Austin interjected to make it clear that she is “not slowing down” anytime soon.

“Everybody is like, ‘Well, don’t you think getting in a bikini is a little too old for you?’ I’m like, ‘No.’” she said. “I’m like, if I’m 90 still looking OK, if I’m still looking good, I’m going to represent for the 90-year-olds, you know? Right now, I’m representing for the 40-year-olds. So, if I can do the split at 80, I’ll be doing the split at 80 and I can still do the split.”

“So, I don’t know why there’s like an age thing,” she said before claiming that women on the internet are having an “issue” and “attitudes” because “there’s so much competition on the net.”

But Austin still made sure to remind the other women online that, “you’re there because I paved the way for the curviness. There’s only a handful — because there’s other more curvy girls out there at the time — I’m not the only one. But I was one of the white women to pave the way.”

For the Fourth of July, Austin shared photos of herself in a small bikini, again, something that is not abnormal for her and fans on the Daily Mail let her have it.

One person said, “Leave the bikinis for your husband.”

A second wrote, “PLEASE cover up!!!!?”

A third said, “She’s gross. She’s always been gross. Don’t know what the attraction is with this one just disgusting.”

Another mentioned Austin and Ice-T’s 9-year-old daughter Chanel Nicole after the outlet shared photos of Austin in a skimpy bikini at the beach with her.

They commented, “That poor baby girl sitting on her mamas thigh while she posing in a provocative way is there no shame?”

Overall, it seems the couple have maintained a strong relationship after being married for 23 years. While the world still hasn’t gotten over Austin’s look, her husband still gives her all the support and that’s what seems to work for them.

‘A Domino Effect’: Trial Approaches for White Deputy Who Claimed ‘Aggressive Stare’ Justified Killing Black Airman at His Own Door, Grieving Mother Says That Excuse Destroyed Her Family

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 20:00

The shooting death of United States Senior Airman Roger Fortson by a Florida deputy last year created a cascade of events that led to the shooting death of his brother Andre less than three months later, their mother said in an exclusive interview with Atlanta Black Star this week.

Meanwhile, Eddie Lee Duran Jr., the former Okalooska County sheriff’s deputy who killed Fortson within seconds of the 23-year-old Black man opening his front door, is free on bail, awaiting trial on charges of manslaughter.

But even if he gets convicted and sentenced, it still would not repair the heartbreak suffered by their mother.

“Everything Eddie Duran did started a domino effect in my life,” Chantemekki Fortson said.

“He’s always going to be the person that took two of my children, because if he had not killed Roger, Andre would have been in Fort Walton on the beach with his big brother, where he was planning on spending the summer,” Fortson said.

Roger Fortson, a 23-year-old senior airman in the Air Force, was killed after a Florida deputy banged on the wrong door in response to a domestic violence call. Fortson opened the door with a legally owned gun by his side. Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputy Eddie Duran killed him, claiming he was in fear for his life. (Photo: Body camera and U.S. Air Force)

Instead, Andre Fortson was killed in Atlanta on July 30, 2024, in a breezeway of the apartment building where he lived with his mother and sister; an innocent bystander killed by a man shooting at another man over a dispute that had nothing to do with Andre.

“So even though he never actually pulled the trigger for Andre, he placed Andre in a bad situation,” Chantemekki Fortston said.

Duran’s trial is not scheduled yet but he has a pretrial hearing scheduled for August 11, according to online court records from Okaloosa County.

The Shooting

Roger Fortson was killed on May 3, 2024, inside his apartment after Duran banged on his door in response to a complaint about possible domestic violence.

But Duran had knocked on the wrong door after receiving wrong information from a woman who works at the apartment complex, who herself was only passing along information she received from a resident.

The senior airman, who lived alone, was having a FaceTime conversation with a female friend when he opened the door, holding a legally owned firearm pointed downwards by his side.

Duran fired several times, later claiming he was acting in self-defense because he was in fear for his life, claiming he saw aggression in Fortson’s eyes.

“When I saw his eyes, I saw aggression,” Duran said, according to the sheriff’s report.

“It was a stare that was fixated 100 percent on me, not eyebrows raised, not, ‘Hey what’s going on? Why are you here?’ It was a stare … that showed me there was aggression.”

But body camera video shows Fortson never threatened him with the gun and was never given an opportunity to put the gun down, leading to the deputy’s termination and arrest on manslaughter charges on August 23, 2024.

“I can’t breathe,” moaned Roger Fortson as he lay inside his apartment dying seconds after being shot.

“Do not move! Stop moving!” ordered Duran, refusing to provide first aid.

Chantemekki Fortson, who watched the full FaceTime video, said her son was coughing and begging for help for ten minutes as the deputy walked through his apartment.

“Then another officer came and said, ‘he’s military,’ and then the deputy (Duran) said, ‘Oh, f_ck.’”

“And then he started saying, ‘stay with me, buddy’ because everything in Fort Walton is special operations. So he knew he didn’t just kill a regular person but a regular military person,” Fortson said.

Watch the video below which contains both body camera and a portion of the FaceTime video.

False Claim of “Self-Defense”

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office wasted no time in defending Duran to the media, releasing a statement the following day that said Duran was responding to a call of a “disturbance in progress.”

“Hearing sounds of a disturbance, [the deputy] reacted in self-defense after he encountered a 23-year-old man armed with a gun and after the deputy had identified himself as law enforcement,” the statement said.

Perhaps they issued that statement before viewing the body camera footage, because the video shows there were no sounds of a disturbance coming from inside Roger Fortson’s apartment when the deputy knocked.

And even though Duran did say, “sheriff’s office, open the door” twice before Roger Fortson opened the door, he stood off to the side of the door as they are trained to do, making it impossible for the senior airman to confirm his identity through the peephole.

And we will never know if Fortson actually heard those words before opening the door, considering he may have been in his bedroom toward the back of the apartment behind a closed door.

And even if he did hear those words, can we blame him for exercising caution in case it was somebody with bad intentions impersonating a law enforcement officer? Especially in a gun-friendly state like Florida where roughly one-third of residents own guns.

Or does the Florida stand-your-ground law apply only to white people?

“If he had been a white guy, he would still be alive,” she said, pointing out previous examples of cops across the country arresting white men with guns without having to kill them.

The Lawsuit

The pending lawsuit was filed in federal court by nationally renowned attorney Ben Crump on May 6, listing Duran as a defendant along with Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden, Chez Elan LLC, the company that owns the apartment complex where the shooting took place, and a Jane Doe, who is the woman who called 911 to report the alleged domestic violence situation.

The video shows the woman, who remains unidentified but is described as a leasing agent for the apartment complex, telling the deputy the domestic violence incident was taking place in apartment 1401, where Roger Fortson lived alone.

She also told Duran that two weeks earlier she heard people arguing and the sound of somebody slapping somebody else, but she also said she did not call 911 that day because she was not sure which apartment it was coming from.

But on the day of the shooting, she told Duran that she was convinced it was coming from 1401, basing her allegations from what another resident had told her.

“It happens frequently but this time it sounded as if it was getting out of hand,” she told Duran.

But there was nothing but silence when Duran walked up to 1401, standing in front of the unit before banging on the door.

According to the lawsuit:

Deputy Duran knocked on Mr. Fortson’s door but did not initially announce his identity as law enforcement. Deputy Duran then positioned himself out of view of the peephole and knocked again more aggressively.

From inside, Mr. Fortson, who was still on FaceTime with his girlfriend, could not see anyone through the peephole and heard no identification.

Concerned for his safety, Mr. Fortson told his girlfriend he was going to retrieve his firearm because he did not know who was at his door.

Mr. Fortson then opened the door with the firearm pointed downward, away from the doorway.

Within less than two seconds of the door opening, Deputy Duran shot Mr. Fortson six times.

At no time did Mr. Fortson raise or point the firearm in his right hand at Deputy Duran. His left hand was raised in a non-threatening posture, universally known as surrender. Body camera footage confirmed that the firearm remained at his side and pointed down.

After being shot, Mr. Fortson stated, “It’s over there. I don’t have it,” referring to the firearm, which had fallen to the ground.

More than a year later, there is no indication whether the sheriff’s office ever investigated the real culprit behind the alleged domestic violence incident.

Stellar Reputation

From a very young age, Roger Fortson showed signs of above-average intelligence, prompting his teachers to place him in advance classes from elementary school through high school.

He also dreamed of being an airline pilot as a child which is why he entered the United States Air Force after graduating high school in Georgia.

During his five years in the Air Force, he traveled the world and earned a stellar reputation among his peers, including foreign soldiers whom he worked with who reached out to his mother to offer condolences after his death.

In fact, several of his Air Force peers wrote letters of impact to the court describing themselves as his “military family,” asking the judge to keep the trial in Okaloosa County which is home to Elgin Air Force Base.

He was also an old soul who loved to dance, appreciating Motown music like the Temptations that had been popular in the 1960s and early 1970s even though he was born in 2001.

“I have so many good memories of him and you would think the memories would make it easier but they make it harder,” said Chantemekki Fortson through tears.

One of her fondest memories is how he would help her deliver newspapers for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at the age of 11, waking up before dawn seven days a week for two years to help her roll the newspaper to deliver them to subscribers.

“We would leave the house at 1:30 a.m. and be done throwing the route around 4 a.m.,” she said. “I would let him do the buildings while I did the residential areas.”

“He would go to sleep in the car when we were done, then come home and sleep for another hour-and-a-half, then get up and go to school. He would do his homework at school because he was smart like that.”

After entering the Air Force, he was stationed in Fort Walton Beach, which is about a five-hour drive from Atlanta, and his mother and siblings would visit on weekends.

“Fort Walton used to be my happy place but now it’s my nightmare,” she said.

‘She Feels Entitled’: White Atlanta Woman Allegedly Flaunts Hospital Executive Role as She Blocks Drivers In Atlanta Parking Garage for 15 Minutes Before Security Has to Intervene

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 18:17

Drivers tend to follow signs in parking decks directing them to higher and lower levels, more parking spaces, and exits.

But that wasn’t the case for one female driver in an Atlanta parking deck.

In a now-viral video, a woman is seen turning her vehicle the wrong way in a parking garage and refusing to turn around, holding up a line of drivers facing the correct direction.

Video screenshots show security guards confronting a driver at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. (Photos: TikTok/user18000000001789)

The video catches the scene at a parking deck at Grady Memorial Hospital.

A woman in the driver’s seat of an SUV with an irritated look is seen right below a sign that says, “No Left Turn.”

However, her car is pointed left, facing two other cars pointing in the right direction and blocking them from navigating the deck.

Multiple individuals, including a woman who appears to be a hospital staffer and two parking deck security guards, are seen confronting her.

The woman filming the video states that the guards have already told her “multiple times” that she needs to follow deck signage and turn around.

She nods as a security guard asks her to comply with their directions.

The person who posted the video to TikTok shared in the caption that she encountered the woman on her way to work.

“She told me and another worker to get in our cars and proceeded to tell the other worker to shut her mouth as this situation did not involve her,” the video caption reads. “Prior to this, she stated that she should be allowed to make an illegal turn in the deck and that we should all reverse illegally as well to accommodate her because she is an executive even after being told by security multiple times supported by signs shown in the video that she cannot turn here.”

The woman recording the encounter also alleged in the video that the woman was displaying entitled behavior due to her position at the hospital.

“She now is holding us up because she says that she should be allowed to as an executive at Grady. That’s crazy.”

The confrontation reportedly lasted 15 minutes before the woman finally complied with security’s instructions and put her car in reverse.

The video garnered nearly 300,000 views on TikTok, where most viewers agreed with the poster’s sentiments that the woman was acting entitled.

“She feels entitled,” one person wrote.

“The entitlement is CRAZYYYYY,” someone else wrote.

“ALL THAT because she just didn’t want to backup 3 feet??!” another comment read.

Atlanta Black Star has reached out to Grady Memorial Hospital to verify whether the woman is a hospital executive.

‘Won’t Last’: Jeff Bezos’ Ring Upgrade for Lauren Sánchez Backfires as Jewelers Call It a Step Down

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 17:07

Did Lauren Sánchez’s lavish wedding to Jeff Bezos come at the expense of her ring?

The Amazon founder, 61, recently tied the knot with Sánchez, 55, two years after proposing aboard his $500 million yacht, Koru, in 2023. The 30-carat pink diamond he presented to his bride-to-be was supposedly valued between $3 million and $5 million.

(Photo by Stefanie Keenan/VF24/WireImage for Vanity Fair)

According to the Daily Mail, Sánchez upgraded her engagement ring before walking down the aisle in Venice on June 27, 2025. Her new version reportedly cost $1.5 million to $5 million.

However, jewelry designer Deena Bassam spoke out about the possible issues the former media personality could face with the latest design.

Bassam posted pictures of Sánchez’s ring on her TikTok page with a direct shot at the person who crafted the piece. She had the sound of a gospel choir singing “What the hell?” playing in the background.

“We don’t know how Lauren Sánchez’s jeweler can sleep at night,” Bassam wrote over the photos, adding, “A band that thin with a [diamond] that size… It’s an accident waiting to happen.”

Bassam’s take received some pushback from another insider in her field. The Daily Mail spoke to Haus of Brilliance jewelry founder Monil Kothari to get his take, and he denied that Sánchez’s ring was “poor craftsmanship.”

Kothari actually praised the design and insisted the platinum band is “strong, durable, and built to last.” The Luxcom owner added, “My hot take? It’s a gorgeous stone, a beautiful ring, and there’s way too much haterade online.”

Despite Kothari calling out the social media hate being spewed at Sánchez, people on the internet continued to weigh in on the topic about what Sánchez is presently rocking on her hand.

“Jeff lad did you get the ring in Pandora?” one Daily Mail reader commented. A second wrote, “That ring is awful. Subtle as a brick.”

Another person joked, “Looks cheap, he probably got it on Amazon.” One harsh comment read, “It’s over the top and vulgar like its owner. It’s not like she is going to ruin it doing the dishes, though, is it?”

In contrast, a Sánchez fan expressed, “Incredible ring, I like seeing it, though I can’t imagine wearing it. I’m sure she has plenty of them.”

“She is going Bezos will be flat out broke before 2028!!” one commenter pointed out. Bezos currently has an estimated net worth of $237 billion, making him one of the five richest billionaires on the planet.

With a nine-figure fortune, Bezos had no problem splurging on his three-day wedding to Sánchez. Rumors claimed the couple spent at least $10 million on the star-studded nuptials in Italy.

Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ivanka Trump, Eva Longoria, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom were among the 200 guests who traveled to Venice to witness Jeff and Lauren tie the knot.

This is the second marriage for Bezos. The technology businessman was previously married to  MacKenzie Scott from 1993 to 2019. They have four children together. Bezos allegedly began his relationship with Sánchez before divorcing Scott, though they have denied having an extramarital affair.

Sánchez was married to Endeavor talent agency executive Patrick Whitesell from 2005 to 2019. She has a son and a daughter with Whitesell. “The Fly Who Flew to Space” children’s book author also has a son with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez.

‘He’s Losing Some Weight’: O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Slimmed Down Appearance In New Photos Years After Drastic Weight Gain Leave Fans Stunned

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 14:32

O’Shea Jackson Jr.‘s noticeable weight loss in new photos has fans buzzing online.

The 34-year-old son of rapper Ice Cube has people commenting on his noticeably smaller appearance after sharing a new carousel of images on his Instagram on July 15.

In response to seeing pictures of Jackson on the set of Chris Van Vliet’s podcast called “INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, one fan pointed out that he appeared to drop more than a few pounds.

O’Shea Jackson Jr. leaves a fan stunned at his weight loss. (Photo: @osheajacksonjr/Instagram)

Various shots of Jackson show him standing with the host, as well as laughing, talking or smiling in others. Within a few close up and medium shots, fans were able to get different angles to see if he did indeed shed some pounds.

“I see he’s losing some weight,” wrote one fan in the comments section of the post.

Jackson took the statement as a compliment and responded, “Thanks homie. I’m tryna thirst trap.”

Another person commented under the first person and tagged Jackson. They wrote, “you doing the thing” along with a flexed arm emoji and a heart eye emoji.

Jackson shared another clip of his interview on X, where someone else wrote, “Boy you look like your pops fam! Stay true to the culture king.”

His father, popularly known as rapper and actor Ice Cube, has always drawn comparisons to his first born son — from their matching scowls to their nearly identical faces and sturdy builds. The only standout difference has been Jackson Jr.’s lighter complexion, likely inherited from his mother, Cube’s wife, Kimberly Jackson.

One of the last times fans noticed a change in Jackson’s weight was during his appearance on the “Jennifer Hudson Show” in January 2025.

A month earlier, in December 2024, his “Den of Thieves” co-star, Gerard Butler, uploaded a video of the two to promote the sequel, “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.”

Though his outfit consisted of layers like a black t-shirt and a leather green jacket, it was not enough to hide the extra weight fans claimed they noticed.

Fans shamelessly shared their reaction under the video of Jackson and Butler.

One person joked, “Cube Jr. lookin’ a little big,” while another said, “Omg. O’Shea needs to stop eating his success.”

A post shared by Gerard Butler (@gerardbutler)

It’s not clear whether Jackson Jr. noticed the more critical comments about his appearance and decided to get rid of the extra weight. But fans are evidently starting to see a difference.

Photos taken in December 2024 in comparison to how he looked in his 2015 biopic “Straight Outta Compton” show a huge difference. In that film, Jackson portrayed his father Ice Cube who, in the 1980’s, was a part of a rap group called N.W.A.

While it’s not certain that he’s been in the gym, the wrestling fanatic does seem to be keeping himself busy co-hosting his “No Contest Wrestling Podcast” with TJ Jefferson. Weekly, the two men talk about all things wrestling and even invite professional wrestlers to join them in their discussions about WWE and more.

In addition to that, IMDB’s site claims a third “Den of Thieves” film is in the works. The new film is currently in pre-production and Jackson will be making an appearance in that as well. He is also starring in an upcoming thriller called “Lone Wolf” and another film titled “Blue-Blooded.”

‘Just Give Them an All-white Military’: Trump’s Pentagon Chief Targets Beards, Lashes and Nail Polish In Crackdown Critics Say Disproportionately Hits Black Troops

Fri, 07/18/2025 - 13:00

President Donald Trump’s Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is so obsessed with grooming in the U.S. Armed Forces that he’s cracking down in the name of military readiness.

A number of new rules and regulations require new “standards” of grooming and appearance, according to a new report, and those new regs seem to intentionally target minorities and women.

The rules include everything from banning eyelash extensions and most nail polish colors to offering laser hair removal on the government’s dime and random policies on the length of cuffs and shirt sleeves.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth sits down for a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Pentagon on July 09, 2025, in Arlington, Virginia. Netanyahu is in Washington for meetings with President Donald Trump, members of his cabinet, Congressional leaders and other officials to discuss a potential ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

The new directive states that all these changes are “in support of Army readiness” and aimed at restoring the “warrior ethos” and overall fitness across military ranks, which is a head-scratcher because these new rules have nothing to do with the ability to move effectively and swiftly.

“We’re looking at overall fitness standards, overall grooming standards, overall basic standards across our formations that we believe have slipped certainly under the previous administration, but over decades,” Hegseth told Congress last month, journalist Ken Klippenstein reported in his newsletter.

And in a February town hall meeting, Hegseth lamented, “It’s almost like the broken windows theory of policing: when you ignore the small stuff from criminals … it creates a culture where big stuff you’re not held accountable for.”

Hegseth also changed the military’s shaving policy earlier this year. Members who had skin complications from shaving too often were previously allowed to apply for medical waivers.

In March, the U.S. Marine Corps issued new guidance on its shaving waivers that could result in the expulsion of service members with a recurring condition of pseudofolliculitis barbae, or PFB, a painful skin condition more commonly known as razor bumps or ingrown hairs, which affects more Black men than any other group.

The American Osteopathic College of Dermatology says razor bumps resulting from shaving affect 60 percent of African-American men and other people with curly hair. The condition can cause severe and painful scarring. The AOCD says letting the beard grow is a 100 percent effective treatment for PFB.

The order specifies three treatment plans according to how serious a member’s PFB is, and, in the worst cases, a fourth phase of the treatment plan includes the option for laser hair removal at taxpayer expense.

The Air Force and Space Force also updated their guidance on grooming waivers in January.

The military requires a clean shave for all enlisted men, unless they receive a waiver.

Similar to shaving waivers, the military is now banning eyelash extensions, something else that predominantly impacts Black and brown people the most. And nail polish has to be “clear or French or American Manicure only.”

Even certain footwear is now mandated in the jumble of new directives. No short boots. They must fully cover the ankle to almost mid-calf.

And how about this new rule on shirt and jacket cuffs: “the cuffs will remain visible, and the sleeve will rest at, or within 1-inch of, the forearm when the arm is bent at a 90-degree angle”; though “Commanders may prohibit rolling of sleeves and folding of cuffs.”

Some critics have slammed Hegseth’s new policies and his justification of the grooming standards as “completely ignorant.”

“When I was in the infantry, several of my buddies who were black had shaving profiles cuz it tore them up. He’s trying to get rid of that so he can justify ‘de-blacking’ the military,” wrote an Army veteran. “Meanwhile, when I attended a change of command ceremony with our sister battalion in the German armory… many of them had beards. And that was 30+ years ago. I’ve had many bosses like this guy over the years. They don’t know what they’re doing so they go overboard on the rules and turn into a paperwork disciplinarian. Nobody ever likes that boss.”

“Now that is what Pete is qualified to do: manage the lash lengths, nail colors and coarseness of beards!!!! I’m feeling safer already!,” another Instagram user wrote. “Just give them an all-white military that’s the goal. Who would want to serve under this administration anyways,” another person wrote.
